Don't know how far back you go but before the container they had a shop, at the end nearest the pub, cant remember why they changed to the container. Do you remember the woman who ran it back in the 80s, really good sort she was, attractive too, black curly hair.
Ah right, makes sense. I used to run the car spares shop at the far end, between the Offy and the butchers, never had any real hassle. They changed to the container when punters from the Greenwood started taking films out from the video shop when it was shut. Try getting into a container pissed, nightmare.
I remember playing Coventry on a Sunday in the 80s, it was a daft kick off time, morning if i recall think we drew 2-2. Went on the special and it broke down so got in the ground late. West Midlands police always enjoyed getting stuck in.
It's only one fella talking it down mate, the rest of us know full well there's good and bad everywhere.as a child of the moss i do not believe some of the stuff on here. the moss was a great place to grow up and as you got older the big weston pub was my home.and all the shebeens as we called them in those days. rudis at the park gates. the nile shakumo at brookses bar and maany others were great. i am proud to say i am from moss side and always will be.
Remember going to Barnsley in the 80’s when train hit a horse I think. We got there well into the game and it must have looked like Zulu when 400 lads were legging it down the hill towards the ground. 0-0 draw too!
Now there would be trouble:)
I thought you had gone upmarket in Prestwich.
.
Nov 84 mateWould it had been December '85, ended 0-0 ?
Spent the Friday night in Brownley Road Police Station for D & D, but still daft enough to head over to Sheffield the next morning.
Still hungover, chased all over Sheffield City centre. Ended up in a pub with fellow blues near the ground but were soon sussed out and barricaded ourselves in the lounge.
Was pretty sure the windows were going to be caved him until Police arrived in force to escort us to the ground. Interesting weekend !
It really couldn’t.
To be fair you can say that about every single bell end of any club who wanted to have a scrap about football. Every. Single. One.Agreed. Chelsea were like the rags. All mouth when they had more numbers but no backbone.

I've lost track of the times over the years I have seen twats bouncing about, arms outstretched, on high streets all over the country, terrifying mums and kids going about their lives only to run like the frightened children many of them were the moment a copper (singular) or a group of more than two opposing fans turned up.
Absolute bellends and cowards to a boy. Very very few of them would dream of actually having a stand up fight against another person one on one.
If you want to see how tough our great English hooligan is have a quick look at the footage from the world cup in France the other year. English top boys crying and running like frightened kids when the Russians turned up and smashed them all over France.
I'll get ruined for this post of course simply because I used to go to a game and watch the game then get back to my car afterwards and go home. Never once felt the need to gang up on some frightened kid with another team's colours on. Never once felt the need to throw things at people from the safety of a crowd of fellow shit houses.
Absolute scum and filth, whomever they purported to support.
Them in France ffs they all had bumbags and sandals on who they attacked English firms 70’s 80’s 90’s would have fucked them russians up FACT
Did you follow City away in the 70's and 80's?They would have tried for about 5 seconds. Then they'd have realised the Russians were actually prepared to fight, not dance, and they would have turned, ran, and swam back across the channel.
Once back home they would have told tall tales about how they'd "had it" with the Russians, and "ran them" all over marseilles and would have "done them proper" if it wasn't for "the dibble" turning up.
Cowards. Scum. Filth.

True. Maine Road was not for the faint hearted away fan, neither was Goodison Park for the for the same reason. Coronation Street two up two down like houses and labyrinth of alleyways and gable ends were no place for those who didn't know the area.I got an old school hooligan site come up on my facebook so joined it.You can tell some of the guys posting have been very active in the past.Lots of different clubs.
They have a similar thread on there and the amount who say Maine Road was a nightmare shocked me.Never seemed that bad to me but the alleyways for away fans was I suppose.
