He left a year before Sane was injured, doubt he had the patience to sit through that year as Foden did.

It happens on a daily basis on the BBC , a positive story about the Rags or Dippers alongside a City negative , they dont even try to hide it now , they are a public funded media outlet who have clearly shown a towards the 'istree clubs for years. As soon as Boris de-criminalises non payment of the licence fee , the better.
Wouldnt miss the BBC if they shut their doors tomorrow.

No and I never suggested he did, but he made significant contributions to 2 of our best ever seasons. Yeah he did score against the rags? Yeah he had 2 great games against Schalke.

He's a scapegoat because despite being one of the best wingers in the world, any lack of tracking back or failing a couple of dribbles is seen as him being inconsistent or mentally weak. We handled it badly because we allowed his contract to wind down so much we'll be lucky to get £60mil for him.

What’s your thinking on the window though. If they are still planning to finish the season in June/ July will it need to be the same squads. So a short window in August was my thoughts. Or will contract dates mean players out of contract like Silva can’t play.
 
Rumenigge is a tight arse , he will not pay Sane £300k a week for sitting on his backside waiting for football to re-emerge , this will go down to the end of the year , the German Rags probably already have an agreement with Sane and his agent , let City be the mugs and pay your salary until the end of the year and we will offer £40m take it or leave it.
It appears if your a 'istree club you do not have to agree a fee with the club before talking to the player , quite sure if we were doing the same with Lewandoski ,Rumennige and his mates wouldnt be too happy , but we have to lie down and let the German Rags trample all over us.

I'm not sure pal, and I don't think those in charge are. I'm sure clubs would be allowed to offer out of contract players rolling monthly deals until the season is concluded, but it must ultimately come down to what that particular player wants.

I know Willian is already on record saying he wants to see out the season with Chelsea before moving on - can see the same with our Dave.

I'd make a FINAL power play for Messi using Cancelo (£50m) and Leroy (£70m)- there is talk Messi is allowed to walk for nothing this summer but I don't think he would want to damage his legacy by triggering that clause.

However...

We could also chuck them £20m to take Semedo.

See how Uefa fancy ad revenues without Messi in the Champions League ;)

Bayern will be a powerful pull for someone like Sane.

Not as much as Barca or Madrid, though.

That's how you change the equation.

And that's because he's somehow become 4th choice winger despite being one of our best players and having arguably the highest potential. We should have given him a final offer of £300k p/w, and if he says no, stick him on the market.

Maybe the management don't agree with your assessment of the player .

Your suggestions sounds like it's from the Ed Woodward school of player contracts.
 
I don't know why people are surprised that the valuation of him will have dropped signficantly. That shipped sailed last summer when his future should have been sorted in June.

Obviously it was subject to some unforeseen circumstances with him picking up a season ending injury, but all parties faffed around for too long and whilst it's not necessarily us to blame, I think we should have been more receptive to selling a player that clearly didn't want to be here and as much as he was 'our player', he shouldn't have played in that community shield match as it was obvious his head wasn't here anymore.

But it's all in hindsight and we now find ourselves in an even greater unforeseen situation with a player with 1 year left on his contract and coming off a nasty injury with question marks over whether a player that relies on his physical attributes will get back to his best.

It's the time to be realistic and bite the bullet, get a reasonable offer instead of pushing for a figure no one is again willing to pay for and risk losing him for nothing, when we can still get enough value out of him to reinvest in a geniune world class requirement at CB.

He was 17 when he left but was 16 (maybe even still 15) when he'd decided he was going, he'd had a contract on the table for quite awhile that would have made him the highest paid teenager in the EPL at least. Even Sancho himself has mentioned his attitude problems while at Dortmund (let alone us), with turning up late for training time and again for starters.

Sounds more like a fair price for someone who could be one of the best players in the world in a few years. And if he said no, we know he's just stringing us along and we should sell.

The cost of replacing such a player is far greater than any increase in wages.
