That is the current recorded deaths that occurred on the 19th of April. It isn't the real total just as all the values in the past week of so are not final totals. They will all go up as the records are sorted by date. But you can get a feel for when a value is accurate by looking at how close the top few lines are on the graph for that day of how close the values in the table are. Tomorrow the 85 will be corrected by about 200, then corrected again the next day by about 75 etc. etc.. Until eventually it stops being corrected.
Thanks

FWIW I think I'm still ultra cautious over all the figures. We're still waiting on a death certificate from the 7th.

The figures are all abit of a mess tbf with places updating at different times, nhs England using date of death, DHSC using recorded death plus then you have ONS updating weekly with all deaths which uses various different way of showing it.

That’s untrue I’m afraid. You can’t cure a virus but you can treat one with antiretrovirals that stop it killing people. That’s what Chippy is talking about.

There are two very promising drugs being tested at the minute:

https://www.newsweek.com/remdesivir...l-patients-trial-released-within-week-1498429

And the one GD linked:

https://news.gsu.edu/2020/04/15/geo...hritis-drug-is-effective-against-coronavirus/

I’ve now bought a few quids worth of shares in both.

I’m sure there are probably others that I’ve not read anything about.

This is a good link for anyone looking to invest/follow any of the biotech/Pharma companies involved with CV19 - has ticker symbols and background information on what they are doing i.e viral/vaccine/logistics and where they are at

Cheers! Just reading that. Admittedly I've never thought about anything like this before so I'm gonna presume I'd be hopelessly out of my depth...and I can presume you need to invest an awful lot of money (that I don't have) to see any return, plus be prepared to wait a long time, correct?

Right testing.

The 2nd "Lighthouse" test facility was opened today on the old AstraZeneca site just south of Alderly Edge (Alderly Park). This allows up to15,000 tests a day to be performed on site.
The Milton Keynes one was opened last week and the Glasgow one opens next week. So in government labs that can test an additional 45,000 tests a week

There is also the Cambridge University /AstraZeneca/GSK /Novacyt lab that will be able to make 30,000 test kits a day.
https://www.fiercebiotech.com/medte...-covid-19-testing-lab-at-cambridge-university

There's also the Novacyt lab insouthampton that will provide 10,000 test kits a day for the UK.

A grand total of 85,000 tests a day on top of existing hospital and other PHE lab production Say 10,000 increasing to 20,000. That gets us very close to the 100,000 tests a day that were promised.

Why aren't they being used?
Because there isn't the demand for defensive testing of serious cases. We need to go over to offensive testing for test and trace. That needs local test centres set up in larger medical centres and hospitals across the country and personnel deployed to test and trace the contacts of those who are tested due to falling ill.

Why is it when I read that I feel as if I'm picking my Grand National horse? Would help me pick if the jockey's silks were pictured (light-blue and white preferably). I'll have one pound on VIR, each way of course.

Thoughts and prayers mate.

Medical Officer

Transport use remains very low

New cases slight dip today but stable trend

Hospital cases remain stable, london continues down

Global death rates, still bang on italy for hospital deaths, difficult to make out all settings because of the colour they are using

Questions

PPE are you ashamed about PPE ? Gov trying everything to get supplies in,still saying they need to use it per guidelines

Some really good news there. Light at the end of the tunnel? Sweden seems to be doing really well also.

Questions

finance questions

Under reporting deaths in hospitals by 40%? agreed there is more to be reported

Confirm how long lockdown is expected to be? Until we are at the five tests we will stay the same

PPE use guidelines downgraded on friday based on supply and not safety standards ? We have taken advice,we are trying to ensure people are safe and not to take risks, when they can re-use safely

Nhs workers do not feel safe ,would you support their choice not to go into work?
Guidence is very clear as to what is a safe situation,if unsafe they need to talk to local managers and call the PPE hotline
