Yes, we all know. It'll never not be hugely demotivating though hearing the scientists basically say 'everything is shit for an awful long time'. The confirmation is a sickener every time. He also basically just destroyed any hope we had dangled in front of us by Oxford Uni.
He didn’t really say anything Oxford didn’t . If their vaccine works they are saying they can have 1 million in September. Just to give a vaccine to everyone just in this country that has the flu vaccine would need about 25 million doses , so even with the Oxford trials being successful it would probably be early 2021 for a full vaccination programme.

I understand,i have been called negative a few times but i have tried to explain that finding a vaccine, getting through three trial phases then if it is safe it then moves on to the manufactoring and distribution will take a long Time

We have no reliable antibody test yet

We are only now contact tracing

We are going have to live with this for a long time

I think it is good that it has been laid on the line today it is brutal but it was time they trusted us with the truth

Look at it like this,so long as everyone sticks to the rules we will get through it eventually,we are all playing a part in this ,the nhs have not been over run,t hat is the most important thing,we can only control what we do as individuals,so just try and concentrate on that,we have the best minds from all over the world working on this,we will be ok

Qatar, in its infinite wisdom has declared we can’t shop without face masks now.

Couldn’t be further from the UK’s advice.

Deaths up again. Not sure lockdown is working, doesn't seem to me to be the case? Should have been total for 4 weeks not half arsed with some busineeses working for 6mths which is the way we are going. The UK economy can't go on like this for the next 6 weeks let alone 8 mths until a vaccine arrives.

OK listen as hard as you can.

The number you saw today is NOT the number who died today.
The day when most people died was the 8th of April. Since then there has been a slow but clear fall.
Go back to the start of the thread and read his predictions (and that we were all over reacting) and how anyone that didn’t agree was a monger of doom.

Interesting. Where have you read/heard this?

In Britain we had the BCG vaccine (that contained TB) for 14 year olds from 1953 to 2005.
I managed avoid that the natural immunity test on my wrist came up was well glad that was one hell of a needle.

Why would it?

there are plenty of reasons skirmishes could kick off over it. Especially with the “let’s blame China” game doing the rounds, or if one country gets hit hard and causes a movement of very large amounts of people over boarders. Or even inter state skirmishes between militias in the states.

If one escalated you never know.

It’s certainly hyperbolic to suggest that WW3 May kick off but it’s impossible to rule out.

Did my Hour exercise today on my lunch break from work, busiest I have seen it for Weeks, people are ignoring and don't quite understand the severity of the situation, lets blame the Govt. and not the plebs who continue to flout the rules.

If I was at the press conference .....

Never mind all this science stuff, will I be able to go fishing and play golf in a few weeks?

and as a follow up question

Can you confirm that those fucking scousers will not get the premier league title this year.

PMSL. If someone did ask your follow-up question, it'd almost make all this shit worthwhile.

I didn't actually say we were over reacting did I simply said I didn't think the deaths would be between 200k and 500k. I tried to put some context into the measures that were being inacted based on the fact that several hundred thousand die of cancer every year in the uk. 450k die of malaria in the Africa every year and hardly anyone cares less in the West. Tbh I still don't know what the answer is, depends what price in deaths you put on ruining the uk economy I suppose.
