Vast swathes of pensioners didn't vote Tory until the last election and that was down to Labours total ineptitude in opposition and trying to derail the brexit vote, but that's another discussion.

I honestly don't know what to believe these days. It might put a stop to them keep raising the pension qualifying age but I doubt it.

I am getting so nervous,the americans are having federal v gov v major wars,lots of people out protesting as trump told them too,you can get a haircut,a tattoo,massage amongst a million other things.We are just not ready here,people have to remember we are about a month behind ,the sensible thing to do would be patient and see what happens to other countries and their progress,cases and deaths will go up and a 2nd wave will come

I'm with you here. I seen Spain's infection rate rose quite a bit yesterday then was back down at a reasonably better level today. I'm really interested in what's happening elsewhere and how it works out when other countries lift their restrictions a bit. I hope it works out well for them all and we can follow, but until then I think more and more of the uk public are needing a boot up the arse.
 
This grown up discussion on lifting the lockdown, the press is calling for has the mother and father of cans of worms, written all over it. You give notice now of a shift in say, seven days and the majority will be running with it tomorrow. Anymore than 24 hours notice will lead to a feeding frenzy. You've only got to look at lockdown Friday, to see evidence of that. Can you imagine if there was a weeks notice? Fucking carnage.
Announce now repent at leisure, in my book.

They aren’t all protesting because Trump told them to. Hundreds of millions of people around the world are losing jobs/income and reality is biting. The world simply cannot carry on in lockdown until the point at which a second wave isn't guaranteed, especially as that point might not ever exist. Not sure how far away from a vaccine we are, if ever, but billions of people cannot continue to live civilised lives whilst in lockdown to avoid a second wave. It’s a shit situation, with no easy answer, but the current situation is unsustainable for much longer.

Out and around today on my bike it was like lockdown as been lifted big groups of people loads of cars on the road mega ques at all shops.gonna get worse

The problem is that the press are fueling this. Absolute cunts for trying steal a march on the next move. It's a fucking shame we can't have a media blackout for a fortnight. Ask your questions at the daily briefing and move on.

Luckily despite the press champing at the bit there will be no change until they have 3 weeks of testing data from the new tests that no one can get because the web site crashes every morning :-)

So as I've had a bottle of wine let me make some predictions.

1) first easing will be announced in the week starting 18th May. Before then there will be a big "we need more data" message.
2) by September the total UK deaths will be 40-50 thousand assuming they do ease some measures I calculated 43K this morning.
3) there won't be a second wave because eventually they will realise that the R was 7 initially and a large cohort of the population will have been infected already
4) By the end of may there will be a good antibody test
5) In the end Sweden will have the same per capita deaths as everywhere else, may even a little lower. (this will have to wait until this time next year)

I will regret posting this tomorrow but this isn't guesswork.

Looks like we can leave the house to go for a walk or exercise next week (2nd May) here in Spain.
Baby steps but better than a kick in the bollocks.
