Playing the joker does not mean it’s a winning hand, but rather an attempt to do so. On that basis, my use of the term was entirely correct. Your misapprehension means you were not.

I don’t think you’re stupid, but I have observed that you frequently have difficulty understanding what other people post. It possibly explains why you often hold such strident views on subjects against the weight of what you are arguing against.
That's not a widely held view, but you’re entitled to your opinion.

And what misapprehension? There was none.

Anyway just walked the dog.

you would think it was the greater Manchester shit cyclist world championship combined with the grand final of the couch to 5k running competition.

I agree with you entirely if you're just being pragmatic and working out how we could get from where we are now to the trickle.

I feel the lockdown has become politicised because I feel the UK government is pursuing an unspoken strategy of submaximal suppression with an hidden target of obtaining some level of immunity. I think they've moderated policy as they've gone along and seen the reality of the virus but it's not as straightforward as humanity v virus. There are differences in how different populations of people have chosen to combat it.

No one really thought that you could test your way out of infection but South Korea with the SARS experience behind them probably knew more than we did. That to me is the ideal response. Remain economically active and hold out for the vaccine. The lockdown should be the tool of the third world. I know that's easy to say.

Despite what Dominic Raab says, I think the Oxford vaccine has a good chance. If the same group got a MERS vaccine a long way into clinical trials then I don't see why they wouldn't be confident.

most experts in vaccine development disagree with you.

I know who I believe.

Just been for a run and Heaton Park is busier than I’ve seen for a while, now I run regular as many on here can attest for me so I’m just trying to keep to my regular routine but the amount of (I’m being polite now) fat bastards in Lycra who’ve never fucking run or cycled before this lockdown began is fucking embarrassing, avoiding wheezing collapsing bodies all over the place doesn’t make god an enjoyable run!! Will start getting up earlier to do it from now on.

The advice I was given many years ago was 1 get your weight down 2 then exercise if you must 3 exercise by raising heartbeat to a max of 144 beats per min by initially walking then if necessary fast walking then if necessary jogging / running always obeying the 144 bpm max..

Driving home from work yesterday, Central and Southeast London was swarming with cyclists; young and old. Whole families taking advantage of the much reduced car traffic to brave the otherwise treacherous, bike-unfriendly streets.

It reminded me of Holland, (pre-lockdown, obviously.)

But, in my opinion, far too many people out and about, mingling or sitting in groups on grassy areas, drinking cans of beer.

I hope you invited Worseley to the running thread if he’s taken it up.

144 would be the max heart rate for a 76 year old.

In essence, whoever told you that’s the only way to work out was talking bollocks.

Nobody seems to be talking honestly about the mortality rate from this disease. I’ve heard all kinds of different things. In The early days the talk was of 1-3% mortality rate but if you look at the confirmed cases v deaths in the UK it’s more like 15%. I know that is the number of people tested and there are assumed to be many who just recover without ever tearing, but are there ten recoveries for every tested case?

There is a theory that different strains are more virulent hence different mortality rates in different countries too. Is there any info out there on this?

Yet London has seen the biggest fall in hospital and critical cases so must be doing something right

We have no idea and won’t for a long time, but 10 cases for every tested case wouldn’t surprise me maybe more, especially with the low initial testing rates, maybe not so much now.

We're still not even being told how many people are really dying. We've just come to blindly accept that they're only counting hospital deaths as a matter of course now. It's crazy.

That’s not true, ONS add on Tuesday, Scotlands on Wednesdays, and daily too.
