I've been trying to identify this but there isn't a single article in our press as to what is being recorded and published by which countries.Apparently in Germany they record deaths by covid as those who have died of covid or the main cause of death is covid .
you would think between countries like the U.K. , USA , Germany France and other western countries we would have a common formula but I don’t think they do .
I also think the WHO said to record deaths as hospital deaths but (rightly) we now include deaths outside of hospital like care homes .
Do other countries ?
England, Wales and NI record all hospital COVID-19 related deaths and every Tuesday you get the full picture of all deaths 10 days behind.
Scotland now reports as many COVID-19 deaths as it can from whatever source 3 days in arears and again the full picture of all deaths in a weekly deaths report 10 days behind
Of the rest only Belgium delivers as accurately as it can for all COVID-19 related deaths.
Germany's deaths are only about 40%-50% of the total COVID-19 related deaths as it must be the main cause of death to be so reported.
Italy only does COVID-19 related hospital deaths.
France included Care homes in its daily stats 2 and a half weeks ago.
Spain I haven't got a clue but I seem to recall that it is the same as Italy.
But our journalists are so shit nobody has done an article on what is reported and when in different countries. You know an article that would actually be useful to us plebs.
In the long term comparing excess deaths in 2020 to the average of previous years will be the only way to compare apples with apples.
