When they list the 5 tests and read them off the fucking slide don’t you think it would be good to give us some indication of how we are doing against each test?

It was 800.000 a week at the start of April. It should be much, much higher by now.
The UK will be at 100,000 per day at the end of this week and we didnt have a medical testing industry like Germany to start with.Just university science labs and associated non testing bio-tech lab capacity.

Don't want to argue, but Helge Braun, Head of Chancellor Office, told us yesterday a number of 818,000 capacity per week.
There was the idea to pool testing in the labs to safe reagents, and if 4 tests together are negative (most are!), each one of them is. If not, 4 separate tests would be done again. Don't know if that's being done yet.

Not sure if UK can achieve 100k tests per day so soon. That's the plan, but reality looks more difficult.
Hope it goes ahead quickly.

Daily briefing

Home tests going up to 20,000 this week

70 mobile tests

Capacity 73,400

Expanding to test asymptomatic care home patients and staff

Available to over 65 with symptoms and people who are in key jobs and their families

Research into therapic drugs, none in the world clinically passed to be used yet but we have 6 in clinical trials

Medicines in care home for one patient can be used by another instead of being destroyed if clinically appropriate

The "Alcohol kills Covid" Meme has killed 728 people in Iran now.

Edit:Testing in a homeless shelter in Boston, 408 tests, 147 were positive and 87.8% of those were asymptomatic or presymptomatic. they have no data as to who went on to get symptoms as it was a 1 day test snapshot.

This graph surely can't be right, can it? I've been critical of the Gov't (without getting into politics here) but even I'm surprised at that.

...was hoping this huge peak for the UK graph was going to be dismantled on here....I'm heading back to the Positive thread for cover. Knew I should not have returned here so prematurely.

They have changed test 5

the no risk of a second peak

to

no risk of a second peak that will overwhelm the NHS

I knew it was a completely stupid test

Medical

Five tests

Nhs capacity

Daily death rates consistently down

Rate of infection manageable

PPE and testing supplies

No risk of second peak

Transport use,cars fluctuating a bit

New cases, those in hospital positive tests, about the same

People in hospital, fallen by 14% in the last week, some areas down, some stable

Patients in critical care beds in the UK,has peaked and beginning to fall as a %

Deaths in hospital, falling using seven day rolling average

More detailed stats ,i will find later

Global death rates, hospital still on italy

This woman on now knows
I understand the figures perfectly.A pity you`re the one who doesn`t understand how they work.Don`t bother replying as I can`t be arsed getting into a debate with you.Others have also told you,you are wrong so stop digging or wumming.
No need for a debate,I gave the latest figures for the last 24 hours just like this Matt bloke did on TV 5 minutes ago, thank you and goodnight.

who is that bloke , I know he is a bloke on YouTube but who is he ?

He's an A&E nurse, has been for 40 years, has a doctorate in medicine and teaches nurses around the world.

He reads up on the latest stuff and gives brief updates on them. sometimes he does use wrong terms but he always says to check the data themselves which he links too.

he's been doing daily updates from I think quite late in January.

I don’t really understand it but sounds like it could be misleading, I’ll await further developments from people who know more than me.

20,00 ? Is that you Priti.....?

Questions

Two from the public

Grand parents can't be used for childcare and the kids can't go to school ? Can't give a definitive answer when to open schools,we havent the data yet to decide

Shielding ill kids, can they go to school when they open and a vaccine available? No they need be shielded at home

(The public questions are much better)

Crisis in care homes, you have protected the nhs ,is the care homes the priority now ?we have prioritised it from the start (yeah right) we are expanding testing and collecting the numbers and improving infection control, huge focus on them

Care homes were a high risk area,PPE inadequate and testing,it seemed to take you by surprise, will you say sorry to relatives ? Rejects that questions, says they had attention on them from the start

Why didn't you test earlier in care homes, staff were crying out for them ?rejects the question again, tested some in care homes and assumed the rest had it without testing if they got ill, investigated outbreaks as they happened

Medics on care homes, large amount of asymptomatic patients spreading it,we are now testing those with symptoms and those without

PPE can you reassure the front line ? Buying in and making it,mammoth effort to distribute it,we take full responsibilty to get it to people who need it

Face masks ? Guided by the science, gov position hasn't change, the best thing is social distancing and staying at home

Medic on face masks, weak science,if people are ill they must stay at home, the evidence on the effects of them Stopping transmission are weak

Care homes, why weren't they told to stop visitors earlier? Science, positive impact on patients to have visitors so difficult decision to make

Better clarity on social distancing ,queue for B &Q but can't sit in the park?stay at home if at all possible (dodged that)

Ventilator production still being done

Easing lockdown by region or all together ? Looking at it as a whole country, the slope of the curve similar everywhere mostly

Contract tracers and the app ? Recruiting as many and as soon as possible, those in place before or same time as app,app ready in mid may,the more people download it the better the data will be for the tracers

Dictated from the news on tv
