Ha, well she should. In all honesty though there are a number of posters on here that have a good breadth of knowledge. I've actually learned a few things that I wouldn't have got from the MSM. Keep posting, I do like a graph!

As some people have said maybe the UK has been following a semi herd policy.

Sweden which has been operating a herd policy has three times as many dead as Norway and Denmark combined.

And that's fine depending on what your goal is.

However strict lockdown prevents mortality rates more than casual lockdown and that is better than no lockdown.

I am not speaking about the economy or long term statistics here. They are things we don't know yet.

People talk about Sweden as if they're a 100% herd immunity country but they were one of the earliest countries to take big measures, placing restrictions on mass gatherings in early March and even now, no more than 50 people are allowed to gather. They also imposed travel bans in mid-March. I don't think they've pursued herd immunity any more than the UK has.

Maybe not but they have not been as strict as their two neighbours hence the difference.

I don’t think we are there are multiple cases of people who are old and have various other illnesses recorded as Covid deaths without being tested.

I know this for a fact my mates dad 90 care home dementia, diabetes been on his last legs for months - sadly died a month or so ago. They said of Covid. He died because he was old and dying he had been ill for months.

It still needs to be taken into account, we can't pretend like COVID had nothing to do with people who 'were on there last legs'.

Not read it yet but not surprised. Although it’s been very difficult for many (I’ve struggled) it’s also become a new normal...less rushed, less reliance on material things so I can understand. Thought I’d love to see the busyness back initially but I quite like the peace. The walks have been so utterly lovely and I’ve reconnected with so many old pals. Attended a virtual conference this week (Canada so evenings for me) and enjoyed tech coming into its own.
Looking forward to mixing back with people but I’d hazard a guess things will be a bit looser after this.

64k people tested yesterday.
Approx 10k less than 30 April.

Yeah I agree, there are somethings that will not go back to what they were and it will be for the best.

The pace of life before was silly.

Pointless polling when the message is stay at home. This is actually a poll of how well the current messaging has worked and I would say by the result that it's worked very well.

The messaging has only just changed to we have passed the peak despite the peak being the 8th April so give it a couple more weeks of good news messaging + time to put the economy back on track after a couple of weeks and the results will be very different.

No thats fair enough, but the 'economy coming back on track' is going to take a long time, lets not beat around the bush. Even if everything was magically opened up tomorrow the public will not suddenly come flocking back. This has a permanent long term impact.

An observation from worldometer. Check the difference between 5 country's absolute deaths and the rest.

These are the facts. Up to you to interpret them.

But that will not be the message. It will be along the lines of make the NHS proud. Something easy to digest and hitting all the right notes. It will come and it will work.
Longterm? I give it 3 years and everything will be above 2019 numbers.

Long term, some things will change for the better. I think peoples 'work life balance' will forever be changed for the better.

No fucking way am I doing 5 days a week in an office going forward.

People are frightened. I think attitudes may change if Europe re-opens and people see that you can mix without new cases surging.

They're not facts though. They are the deaths that have been reported by those countries but, as we know, different countries report in different ways and perhaps some are less 'reliable' in their reporting than others.

Lets see what happens, if cases surge again in Europe we are back to square one.

I think a shitload of hard work has been one, I don't think people want to risk undoing it at this stage.

If you are going to do that you need to do deaths per capita. Worldo has per million which is good enough
I did that but there's loads of silly countries there which makes it awkward to read: san marino, Andorra etc.

In January when we were watching Wuhan had you been told that it would develop into a global pandemic would you have picked those countries to top the lists of death (absolute and by capita)?
