I heard yesterday in some interview, that the meeting only one parent etc per day scenario, is based on the theory it halves the amount of people out and about. 250k rather than 500k. Kind of makes sense.

I have heard the phrase ‘Use your common sense’ quite a bit these past couple of days. Pity that a huge number of this country lack this. New guidelines are simple to follow if you read and listen to what has been said. Is there a correlation between those people on furlough who are being paid whilst flouting the rules and the fact that furlough payments may be reduced and these people might have to work? I understand that everyone has their own specific lifestyle but we are talking about guidelines for 66m people and there will always be anomalies. Media has been banging on about easing lockdown and now they are shit stirring saying it’s confusing when it’s not unless you are being a total arse or if you have a shoe size larger than your IQ

Crikey, that was fun, listening to Michael O’Leary on GMTV. He’s cracking on with expectations to be flying 1,000 flights a day from July 1st. Plans in place regarding masks etc, and basically just said “bollocks” to the idea of the quarantine on returning to the UK, lol.

You’ll get nowhere on here speaking sense!

How anyone expects there to be a simple answer to EVERY single connotation regarding getting back to work is ridiculous. This though, imo, is probably where the government and its ministers have failed in the way they’ve dealt with this, as not once have I just heard them say a simple variation on this response. Any person with a modicum of common sense can see what they are trying to do but they are allowing the main stream media and planks like Piers Morgan to cause unnecessary further damage.

As much as we moan, we’re no different to other countries - this is Australia where they have decided to open shopping malls.

Schools didn’t even close in Aus. My cousin lives in Brisbane and his kids have been in school throughout all this.

My uncle went out here to see him in March for three weeks and decided to stay out there instead of coming home when the Govt asked people to. He’s still there now.

They’ve only had 97 deaths.

Yes it seems that causing hassle and scoring points is more important than trying to move forward.

So from reading the last 10 pages it seems that those who support the government think the guidelines are crystal clear and anybody not understanding is a simpleton, whilst those who don’t support them think they are clear as mud.

So much the same as every other political thread.

Some of us are just trying to explain that it’s impossible for the guidelines to be crystal clear, and that anyone expecting it to be clear for 50 odd million variants is being an arse.

I don’t think it can be reasonably argued that the Government have handled this well and/or communicated effectively.

I wonder if furloughed staff become the new teenage mums, or the unemployed bloke down the road with a flat screen TV etc. I.e scapegoats for all the countries ills

For me, this is the time to double down on the lockdown. I fear all the public’s good work will be undone over the next 2-4 weeks

Briefings like last night’s car crash don’t help. At times I rewound it twice to double check what Boris had said and a few times he actually didn’t make any sense and about four times said the wrong thing and had to go back and correct himself.

Having worked in a number of industries where I’ve dealt with the general public in their hundreds every day, I would say that more people do not have any common sense than have it. So last night, and the amateurish difference between Sunday night’s message and news bulletins to the contrasting messages on Monday morning that contradicted Sunday night, will have been bad for those people with no common sense.

And common sense isn’t related to intelligence neither. I’ve met and know some very intelligent/highly qualified/successful people who’ve got no fucking common sense whatsoever!

My advice for anyone not sure about any of this, is; DO NOT listen to one fucking word any of the politicians utter. In the last two days they’ve been a bunch of contradicting, wishy-washy, unclear idiots! ONLY read what is on the govt website: https://www.gov.uk/coronavirus

But I do agree, the media have been a fucking disgrace throughout all this.

I actually agreed with them when they were putting pressure on to go into lockdown early, but as soon as we went into the restrictions we had from 20th March all the media did (I’m looking at you Kuinsberg! but it wasn’t just her) is bang on every day about when we were going to come out of lockdown. To the point where so much pressure was built I think we’ve come out of it about three weeks too early. I agree with Scotland Wales and Northern Ireland, I think we should still be under the last lot of restrictions. Northern Ireland have said they aren’t opening schools at all until September, Wales’ message is “only go out if it is necessary”. I agree with both of them.
