Because...
(A) We trusted China. Those who had experience of the SARS outbreak didn't and are much better off as a result. The country that trusted them the least, Taiwan, is best off of all.
(B) Global air travel. You shut it down on day 1 of epidemics to countries/regions with cases. Not wave through those who are not yet ill. You enforce personal isolation too.
(C) The stats for the viral spread in the west are MUCH worse than in China. A combination of the aging population and the fact that older people in the west tend to live together.
(D) The administration in the NHS and Civil Service moves at glacial velocities. Not only that, they are more incompetent than their private sector equivalents.
(E) Our population and that in the west is generally selfish. If you look at what was actually happening in Lombardy when it was supposedly in lockdown and you will see that it wasn't until 7 days later.
(F) The decision to NOT enforce face masks on public transport is just total stupidity. Yes, they dont stop you getting it - that is indeed down to personal hygiene - but they do reduce your droplet aerosol export range from two yards to 6 inches. So they stop you spreading it!
I don't think they have enough PPE to enforce F.

If a postman has it, will he/she not be passing it on to everyone who opens a letter he/she delivered?
I’ve just got a delivery from DPS of a skipping rope from Nike... driver had gloves on and left it at my door.

I opened it and had a read of it... it was ‘Made In China’!

Shit myself. So got it out, threw all the packaging in the outside bin and cleaned fuck out of it then washed my hands.

I was already a keen hand washer/hand sanitiser user and someone who often cleans my flat and my office at work.

This is going to make me a right paranoid fucker!

Yes,you might have it and have little or no symptoms, just don't take any chances

Here’s the timeline

- Girl A has house drinks with 8 other people 13th of March, our friends Couple B attend

- We see Couple B but don’t touch them, shake hands etc. on Saturday 21st 8 days later

- Girl A tested positive and was in hospital last weekend 20th-22nd

- Couple B, our friends show symptoms yesterday 24th of March

- Girl A tells them she’s tested positive.

- No one else at Girl A’s house party group show symptoms at all.

- Couple B have still be going to work and seeing family etc. so there’s a chance they’ve caught in the meantime.

- We’re only 2 days away from that 14 day window of not showing symptoms.

About 170,000 people sign up for the NHS volunteers scheme

The initiative to get people to help during the crisis was only announced on Monday evening.

In just over 12 hours tens of thousands of people have signed up, the NHS said.

No evictions for three months - likely to continue for longer

The government announced last week renters would not be allowed to be evicted for three months.

Housing secretary Robert Jenrick told Sky News' Kay Burley@Breakfast the government is passing emergency legislation at the moment which "brings a moritorium to evictions for the next three months".

He said renters will not be able to be taken to court or forced out of their home.

The government has arranged a £3m holiday for buy to let landlords so they have a mechanism to go to their own bank to ask for a mortgage holiday.

He added that the government is working with the judiciary and has asked all courts and judges to ensure public health comes first.

Addressing concerns those affected by coronavirus could be evicted after the three months, he added: "It's unlikely if you're going to be turfed out of your home after that three months.

"Landlords, please do the right thing, support everybody through this time - certainly those on the frontline in the NHS.
But the self employed can just starve

So Prince Charles has it - just working out how many of the Royal Family he needs to fatally infect until Prince Andrew is King!

his homeopathy will save him...

I notice the Clarence house announcement said he and Camilla met the criteria for testing on the NHS.
I didn’t realise the criteria were
At imminent risk of death or a Royal and their family.
