I wish I could be mistaken for one. Lock down is destroying 14 months of solid and clean gains. No mate, there’s a fitness thread but that gets clogged up with all the stedheads.....
Only joking @SWP's back and @Bigga
Not something I’ll ever be capable of looking like at 5’6”!!I wish I could be mistaken for one. Lock down is destroying 14 months of solid and clean gains.
I'm going to come out of this looking like a bean pole. :-(
Sounds horrible mate, well done. Not something I’ll ever be capable of looking like at 5’6”!!
Just done my stair session again, 2 mile warm up to begin followed by 90 stairs run up 5 times single stair, 5 times double stair then 3 times 3 step tuck jumps!! Nearly sick on the 3 set!!!
1 mile cool down and fucked now!!
Thanks it’s tough but perversely enjoyable!!Sounds horrible mate, well done.
Great work mate.I was running at the gym before all this. Was aiming for 10k as training for Manchester 10k. Since lockdown I’ve walked no less than 5 miles a day. Did 14 miles to town and back Monday and 8 today. Enjoy it much more than running at my age.
Going to Cheetham tomorrow, another 14 miles. All part of training for a 20 mile a day, 60 day walk in 2021 or 2022 hopefully.
Feeling fitter and dropped a stone and a bit in three months.
Hope old are you? I read in a magazine that as you get older, the sprint capability of leg muscles reduces, and the endurance components of your leg muscles increases, making it easier to endure, but at a slower pace as you age.I was running at the gym before all this. At 58, I am running 10k and more fairly comfortably, at a 'conversational pace'. The thought of that stair thingy, that @inchy14 does, fills me with dread, however.
So 5k wise my PB has been 33.58 on a park run course in Ashton.
well I tried a different route last night towards the village hotel in Ashton. and was 45 secs off my PB.
just wish I could stop having to stop start towards the end towards really achy legs
legs this morning gosh they hurt.
You doing any stretches after mate? Highly recommend them even if it’s just a couple, do calfs, hamstrings then thighs, may help the next morning. So 5k wise my PB has been 33.58 on a park run course in Ashton.

Good luck with the training for next year. Where are you planning to walk? I did my JOGLE last May to July over 61 days (1200 miles including the 3 Peaks on the way). My feet were battered for a few months after but it was an amazing experience and I raised £10k for McMillan. Still do a fair amount of walking and it’s easier than the several aborted attempts at running where I get the same recurring injury. Getting out and about, running, cycling, walking or whatever is great exercise both physically and mentallyI was running at the gym before all this. Was aiming for 10k as training for Manchester 10k. I doubt we’ll see them this year mate, they’re large groups and in confined spaces at the start, plus they have no real economic value so I can’t see them being done.I'm working at home during lockdown so am getting the chance to run 4 or 5 times a week and am up to about 30 miles a week now.
Not been further than 10 miles this year though.
I have to say I'm missing parkrun having done them for 5 years.I enjoy camaraderie people pushing to get personal bests
Anyone take a guess when we think they might be back ? I'm hoping October but my local one at Stretford gets 5/600 down there
As @inchy14 says, unlikely as they aren’t easy to control. We do Heaton Park and it’s been over a 1000 most weeks prior to lockdown, not a prayer it’s starting any time soon.I'm working at home during lockdown so am getting the chance to run 4 or 5 times a week and am up to about 30 miles a week now.
