I apostrophe m just happy to PM you where I will be will be walking tomorrow and you can cycle up towards me if you like

Why you being a knob with fellow blues? No ones done anything to you, but here you are being aggressive towards people on the internet. Do you not think prople have enough to deal with without keyboard warriors throwing the big un? We come on here for news and views about a virus, not for Johnny 10 men to throw the big un because he's upset at people riding bikes.
For the record I don't own or ride a bike. Just bored of keyboard warriors. Grow up.

Anyone know where we're up to with quarantine on flights? Michael O'Leary was on the radio and seemed to think that lorry drivers and key workers were exempt, and travellers from France. That exemption was after a private conversation (in French) between Johnson and Macron but I thought they'd backtracked (business travellers would fly to Paris then come to London on Eurostar - nearly as quick as getting through Heathrow into London).

14 day quarantine is "Unimplementable, unenforceable, unpoliceable" says O'Leary and reckons wearing a mask would stop 98% of transmission. That's a separate issue but what exactly is the latest on the quarantine proposal for flights?
Old and incorrect news.
All Travellers from anywhere including France WILL be quarantined. Johnson changed his mind on Wednesday. That’s flights, ferries and the tunnel. Only exclusion are lorry drivers and a few essential workers.
Probably after realising all Schenghen countries have freedom of movement still so any one from them could go to a France to enter the UK.

Just heard on local Spanish Radio that about 5 percent of its population had antibodies against CV.
El Pais has the full story here:

https://english.elpais.com/society/...paniards-have-contracted-the-coronavirus.html

Some interesting statistics regarding age, geographical and Province differences.

Article has an interesting comment as follows:

"If the percentage of infected people who eventually die is around 1.1%, as the study suggests, the cost in human lives of herd immunity would be between 200,000 and 300,000, making the method unacceptable. Epidemiologists consulted by this newspaper said that social distancing measures must remain in place until a vaccine becomes available."
How come all these countries have a reliable antibody test yet we don’t.

That's it, apart from those that ride two and three abreast on trails at ridiculous speeds so that walkers have no chance of getting out of the way and stay 2m away from them. In a nutshell...

trail, canal path, footpath I don’t move.
They can dismount and let me and my big walking stick past.

What that doesn't tell is how many people have been exposed but have natural immunity (so didn't develop antibodies). If fewer children than adults had antibodies this means that either children did not get the disease as often as adults, or else their bodies did not generate antibodies. So it would seem possible that some adults do not generate antibodies (who either had it with no symptoms or have some natural immunity). So there may be more than 5% who have had it or can't get it (and maybe can't spread it).

And my old question: if the German tests in Heinsberg, the tests in NY state and these Spanish tests are reasonably reliable, why are our tests (for antibodies) so difficult to get right?

Sounds like they haven't bothered to tell airlines! The interviewer did try to correct O'Leary - I'd have liked to hear his reaction if he found out on air that the policy had been changed five days ago!

And in a nutshell that is bollox.

If you want to stay healthy then go to the gym. Run a marathon. Buy an indoor bike. Start walking.

Roads were made for motorised vehicles, not bikes.

The lack of infrastructure has meant they are shoe horned into an environment that is dangerous.

It makes me so fucking angry that I have to pass a test, and pay ridiculous insurance to be on a road whilst fucking cyclists don't do a thing other than have the brass neck to pipe up when someone calls them out.

When they pay what I do and are subjected to the same things I am on the road, then they can come and have a go.

Until then they can fuck right off.

Rant over

Edit: My apologies for derailing the thread.
You really need to stop this angry nonsense towards cyclists because with that silly attitude you are going to hurt one of them. You should try cycling it is great exercise, and you will also appreciate how vulnerable someone sat on 2 wheels around a very angry man behind a heavy powerful motorised piece of metal is. Roads are not solely for motorists however much you both misunderstand that and dont like the fact.
Cyclists have cars too and so pay tax and insurance. Proper cyclists will have cycle insurance too because of people like you with dangerous disregard to them. As Im sure you know angry hostile drivers makes for bad driving.
Lots of things will change for the better as a result of the virus. More people will work from home when able. Shift times may be staggered to prevent everyone from being in at once and this will also prevent the awful rush hour gridlick. And people may also cycle more and avoid cars as a result, which only provides wider benefits to health.
But not so long as people like you demonstrate hostility like that.

Good point.

Cannot imagine why the UK would have difficulty other than getting a conclusion that is maybe inconvenient to their plans or previous decisions?

Alternatively we must suspect the results from Spain and its references to other global studies on the same subject.
