I don't mind either of the old firm but I enjoy the banter on this thread, a refreshing change to the Spurs bullcrap!!

I always wonder if Walter Smith's best Rangers team could have beaten Martin O'Neills best Celtic team? Both were excellent teams

Good question. Would be a good game. What would you have as O'Neills Celtic XI @Magicpole?

Not sure if it was just Walter Smith’s best team in one season or over the course of his tenure. Going over the course of his tenure I’ve went for:

Andy Goram

Gary Stevens
Richard Gough
John Brown
David Robertson

Brian Laudrup
Paul Gascoigne
Gennaro Gattuso
Jorg Albertz

Ally McCoist
Mark Hateley

That was a hard one. Could easily have included players like Ian Durrant, Ian Ferguson and Sergio Porrini.

Should probably have put Ian Ferguson ahead of Gattuso but he had a decent first season and with the career he went onto have I’ve put him in.

Willing to see the Martin O’Neill XI to compare.

Hard to disagree with any of you selections. Think you might be right about Gatusso, maybe even Stuart McCall in there who was really underrated. Or you could move Albertz in 1 and play someone like Trevor Steven wide.

Right back was always a problem with me after Gary Stevens, we seem to struggle there until Porrini came along.

Do you think that's a better team than Advocaats in its prime?

Yeah, that's strong as well, still got guys like Moravcik & Harston that could be involved as well. Would you rate that higher than say Rodgers first season team?

Yes. And our team now us better than Rogers team. That **** couldn't see a defender if his life depended on it. I'm not just saying that now, I have had literally hundreds of arguments with Celtic supporters who thought the sun shone out of his arse long before he jumped ship.

Hopefully bring in another couple of quality players and keep Eddy another year. And be ready to go whenever this shit passes.

I’m not sure, I think Walter had the better team.

Advocaat had games at Ibrox where we completely blew some top European teams away. Stefan Klos, Amoruso, Numan, Ricksen, Barry Ferguson, Claudio Reyna, Van Bronckhorst, Michael Mols the list goes on.

It’s a tough one.

Interesting. I thought you would have rated Rodgers team better than this 1. Tierney, Lustig, on fire Scott Sinclair, Paddy Roberts, Dembele etc. You watch them more I suppose.

Michael Mols. The biggest what could have been for Rangers bar injury apart from maybe Ian Durrant. I remember watching him put 4 past Goram & Motherwell on his home debut & thought we had an absolute star.

Hearts won fuck all for over 30 years until Amoruso arrived.
98 cup final and with the brilliant Albertz suspended for some reason Amoruso thought he was a free kick a specialist.
Lost count of his efforts that went over the bar into road Z.
Then to top it off he made a howler for the second goal.
Got his arse felt most weeks as well down south and happily repeated the error against City
A fuckin numpty.

Yeah, I know it’s a cheap shot, but reading this thread reminded me of a great Two Ronnies line from back in the day. Given by Ronnie Barker;

‘More football later, but first, highlights from the Scottish First Division’

Yeah, it's amazing the difference money makes. Back in the 80's Aberdeen & Dundee Utd were doing well in Europe, Rangers were buying the England captain & goalkeeper, Celtic were still a good side, Hearts came within a whisker of winning the league. Then in the early 90's, Rangers actually were 1 of the founder members of the Champions league & were 1 goal away from the first final beating English Champions in both legs in the earlier rounds. Rangers & Celtic were among the top replica shirt sellers in Britain.

Then Sky started the Premiership and it all changed. Money does indeed make the world go round.

Oh we have won it mate. Like every other club acrius the world will have if find shed early due to a pandemic. If they ****s had been 13 points ahead none of them would have said they didn't deserve it. That's why we are collectively pissing ourselves at the tears. Next year 10.
Sorry mate, you didn't win it. You have to be mathematically certain to win any league. That's how it works. You know it, everyone knows it. You've won nowt. And I have no dog in this fight. If you'd been clear and unable to be caught, your champions. You weren't; you're not. And you know all Celtic fans will have that niggling at them.

The only thing niggling me is we didn't finish the season and extended the lead. Apart from that, we are laughing our bollocks off at the pain and angst of our friends across the city.

Albertz was such a bloody good player, I always wanted him at Spurs.

I remember Rangers had Negri banging them in, around the time I think WBA had Lee Hughes banging them in, both went off the boil in their leagues either injury or whatever it was. Rangers had some brilliant teams in the nineties, they would have torn Spurs a new one

Martin O'Neills Celtic were brilliant, I always remember English fans down the pub laughing at Scottish football, but I think they finally woke up when they turned over Pool at Anfield, if I remember rightly Hartson stuck one in the top corner for the winner, brilliant. I thought Liverpool outplayed then at Parkhead though, two great ties however.

It's a shame both had become part of a food chain of football, but they have always been the top of theirs on the domestic front. Every club needs a rival no matter how much you hate them, Lennon and Gerrard will give fans a bit of nostalgia 30 years down the road

The retweets and posting of comments on Follow Follow are hysterical, literally.

You probably read about the guy who climbed into Ibrox with a 9iar flag.

Well, an absolute arse on FF, Papac has called on his fellow "bears" to set up a militia/vigilante group to patrol.the stadium. He's looking for volunteers.

Fucking bellends. :)

There are literally dozens of this level.of insanity. Hilarious. I can just see them with their Orange Order Trumptonesque military uniforms their big sisters sewed them from old curtains, marching up and down, Who Goes there? Bear or Tim? We arra Peepil. No Surrender, Fuck The Pope. And so on and so forth. It's been a highlight of the season.

Sad's Army.
