The difference now is people are hyper aware and that is the test in the coming weeks. It's already been proven that lockdowns are totally unnecessary if everyone socially distances correctly which obviously wasn't the case prior to the lockdown.

Lockdowns are only put in place to ensure that the NHS is not overwhelmed by the influx of cases which currently is slowing to normal levels. If everyone follows the rules then there is no reason why at least some things can go back to normal.

Obviously in places where it's impossible to socially distance, there's no chance they'll come back and I'm afraid that means pubs etc. The pubs aren't going to open anyway if they can only fill the place with 1/4 as many people.
Hyper aware of what?

Yes I read it,discounted it due to the way it was collected ,when it was done and the small amount of people and age

WHO is the only way to go
Not when they dont give a median or other information that defines the distribution.
In fact It's pretty crap advice actually.

Expert on news night said not going to have a wide spread vaccine available for 3 years, stating it's just impossible to do it in a shorter period. Said they may get a vaccine in 1 year that then can only use in emergency situations for front line workers, because it won't be fully tested and couldn't roll out to general public.

South Korean disinfectant squad going out on their next deployment (SK flags on shoulders). Incidently have you or anyone else seen anything like this in UK Cities yet?
We've had 4 fucking months to begin to do it properly.

I've lived in the city centre for two years now and I think they've cleaned the pavements once. Just before a Tory conference to try and make the place not look grubby. Sadly the likelihood of them doing anything like this is minimal.

this shit is seriously going on my tits now. Can't fucking order anything online as our airports are still completely closed and no incoming post traffic (apart from letters from some european countries) is working.

Interesting. Hopefully they're not just some anomaly. Wonder what's causing the lack of infections. Great for the Danes though!

it's same here. Schools and airports are closed, but apart of that, pretty much everything is working now, anyone barely gives a shit about social distancing, but cases haven't gone up at all. We never were too affected, but it felt down a bit before lifting the restrictions and it never rose so far.

The average incubation (median) period is 5.1 days.
95% of infections occur between 4.5 and 5.8 days and 97.5% occur before 11.5 days. So the vast majority of new cases from going back would have been picked up.

The 95% quoted in the article is the confidence interval for the average - there's a 95% chance that the average incubation period is between 4.5 and 5.8 days. It doesn't mean that 95% of infections occur between 4.5 and 5.8 days.

Presumably most people are wearing masks in public. If you consider that the main mode of spreading seems to be via stuff coming out of your nose or mouth, if you mostly block that, you're going to dramatically reduce the spread, even when people are in fairly close contact. It's night and day compared to the situation pre-lockdown.

Some good signs for some countries following deescalation. Here in Valencia it has been nearly 4 weeks since children have been allowed to go out and nearly 3 weeks since adults have been allowed to exercise. So far there's been no spike in cases or hospitalizations. We're all set for phase 2 in about ten days if it continues likes this.

haha it all kicked off round here last night, proper party on the beach, someone hauled a load of decks out onto the street, going off.

Isn't this so bloody obvious.

And yet for weeks and weeks we had that moron Witty and his band of cretins, advising government ministers without a science o-level between them, that there was no need to wear them and no benefit in doing so. So that was the moronically stupid and wrong advice being pedalled.

And yet all the time we could see how effective mask-wearing was in Asian countries. An effective solution was right there in front of us.

The government's persistently wrong advice on something as important as this ha been a bloody bloody disgrace.
