The possibility of an absolute vaccine is very unlikely any time soon but hopefully there will be at least one of the many being developed which will give partial protection similar to the flu jab (between 40-60% year to year). This combined with better therapeutic treatments to reduce the severity of the virus for the relatively small proportion of people affected this way are the best routes forward I'd say.
Part of the problem with vaccine developments is the fact that the number of cases is falling rapidly, so the test groups have a much lower chance of exposure to it. Hopefully there will be enough to at least get a partial vaccine later this year.
