They charged us on the last possible day up until that point we do not have to provide anything as until we are charged we are not deemed to have done anything wrong

There seems to be some doubt about that, apparently in UEFA’s own regulations the time limit would have been 5 years from the alleged breach. See Stefan Borson on 93:20 podcast/Blog. If that’s correct they missed their own time limit.

Dates 2 and 9 maybe significant as it shows the five years between the initial punishment and the referral to AC to meet the deadline, although some think that the start of the process was the start of the five years date 1

In the club statement ref 6 above they clarify about the evidence document presented to IC

“The accusation of financial irregularities remains entirely false and the CFCB IC referral ignores a comprehensive body of irrefutable evidence provided by Manchester City FC to the Chamber”

You sir, have far to much time on your hands, twice I’ve read that, and it’s still makes no sense whatsoever, lol

Still can’t shake the feeling we did blag it and have been caught out? Maybe it’s the cityitis lol. Things are going great and never been so good and we would still manage to balls it up!

Maybe it's just me but I suspect if we get this overturned it will be on a technicality due to UEFA/ IC + AC processing the case poorly, as opposed to City actually being proven innocent (which btw I reckon will be the club's approach) then the clubs would be in a strong position to say UEFA dropped the ball.
Yeah, that’s a fair point. Whether or not it’d be an issue that would result directly in the collapse of UEFA is another matter.

Only two months between the IC investigation and the recommendation to the A.C.?
That could be a get-out for UEFA as a whole, while CAS hold it against them on process grounds

I tend to only read this thread, rather than post - it provides the opportunity to learn from those that have a lot more knowledge and have done the research, but - as a CITY fan of so many years - I have a natural inclination to 'cityitis' - and I am just expecting something to go wrong.

But through reading the thread I cannot help to get infected with hope due to the insights and views of some seemingly very knowledgeable people - but then again the cityitis reminds me that - afterall they are also CITY fans and therefore prone to over-optimism.

But, surely Lord Pannick's involvement - or rather his continued involvement - is a reason for a level of confidence?

People in his profession - especially at his level - are all about reputation and they do not casually leave themselves open to being on the 'losing side'.

He will be on a day rate along with some bonus structure I would guess - he surely would have been quickly able to assess if the CITY position was weak or if indeed there was clear evidence to support the ban being justified.

Surely if that was the case, then he would have had a quiet word with the Chairman and advised that we swallow - because otherwise we take the hit and then the embarrassment of public confirmation.

So I take some comfort in that - although that again may just be the hopeful CITY fan in me.

A further train of thought that I have been having is the viability of the G14 setting up a breakaway league in the here and now of a post pandemic world.

So - let's say that we are successful and the ban is lifted

Let's say UEFA take the hit as the cause is exposed as being the fault of their process - indeed even if that is not the case.

In this new world to be - I am just wondering if the conditions are ripe for the G14 - and indeed for the main sponsors to set up a new CL anyway.

The G14 would/could benefit from increased revenues to them

The sponsors (I am guessing) could benefit from reduced costs of sponsorship - overall, even if it is more money to the smaller number of competing clubs.

Timing wise I am thinking that it could be just about right for them - and indeed a few years from now it may be too late.

At the moment - they are still the big names that the worldwide TV audience want to see. They will recognise that 10 years from now that may have changed if clubs like CITY have 10 years to cement themselves in the psyche of the TV viewer as being a top team.

We have seen some of the G14 already fade - 10 years from now they could be 'also-rans' and irrelevant to the consciousness of the TV viewer. I could see this being a more serious/compelling consideration than it has been previously, when UEFA have been able to keep them on board by reconfiguring the competition formats
