Are you talking about the same guy who would've drove Leonardo Bonucci here himself had he agreed to come a few years back? My math is a little spotty but he's 33 now...naah I think you're right, He will be looking for a new project in like 36 months Max. And as you say:

As shown by his stellar record of him buying 4 players aged 26-29(3 of the 4 are U27) between summer 2016 and summer 2019.
I think we all agree that we need a TOP class CB.....the key for me is if we win our case with CAS and overturn the ban, then such a deal is on. If we do not overturn the ban then it is going to be very difficult to persuade someone like Koulibaly to come to the Etihad.Koulibaly us one of the best defenders in the world, what are people smoking here.
Partnered with Laporte that would fix alot of our defensive issues. Who cares about resale value, we need a star right now.

Don't think there will be a window until after the C/L in August anyway. Though a few deals might be verbally agreed.Definitely there's not going to be any major transfers until the outcome of our cas appeal nxt week

The problem with this deal is we might only get years out of him - we may get more but it’s impossible to say so the sky high transfer (It’s Napoli remember!) fee would mean he’d be costing us £30 or £40m a season with wages. Not only that but he’d almost certainly want a 5 year deal so if he did fade quickly in his early 30s or became injury prone we’d be left with High wages and limited options to ship him out. As United proved with Billy Joel - it’s easy to take a risk on older players but you back yourself into a corner. He’s a great player but I just don’t think he fits with how we do things. I’m clearly making assumptions about older players and some do buck the trend but once players get to 30 injuries just seem to take so much longer to recover from.

Scary times ahead but UEFA probably need some money right now so who knows, maybe a fine could just do it.

Some of us would rather give Stones, Adaradiayo and most of all Garcia a real chance. Buying a top class centre back would see Garcia leave in my opinion and I rate him highly enough to think that option is inconceivable. In two years we'll hugely regret letting Garcia leave, much like we do with Sancho. I do think we need a second left footed centre back however to cover Laporte, so even if he's missing we have a balanced pair to allow us to play out from the back quicker. It would also give us the added benefit of being able to play three at the back with Laporte in the middle.

Our first choice CB is sealed for Laporte.
2nd choice CB can be filled with Fernandinho ( who was one of the best this season) , Garcia ( The next CB star ) , Tosin , Walker , Stones ( the 50m investment ) or the general Otamendi.
Even Rodri can play there.

2- Garcia & Tosin hasn't failed yet !
3- Walker wasn't tried there.
I remember Pep converting Kolarov to CB, and he did really well there.
Fernandinho done well also, so why not try Walker ? he might succeed.

Kolarov - no he didn't.
Fern - no he didn't, hence we're 25 points behind and our midfield has collapsed without him in there to boot.
We need a proper centre back pairing and a proper defensive midfielder, otherwise we'll have another season like this miles behind Liverpool.

They dont need 2 WC cbs, they play 3 DMS. Ffs if we played fabinho henderson wijnaldum infront of stones & mangala we would concede less than them. We just dont have the forwards for smash it in the corner football. Plus I enjoy watching the skill and craft of the Silvas, Kdb, foden, etc.Who is Liverpool 2nd CB ? Matip or Gomez .
