The problem with AOC, great as she is, is that she's becoming a female Bernie.
Which pretty much makes her unelectable because every corporate interest in the country will paint her as a communist for the next 10 years and she'll lose vast swathes of centrist support.
Women are already considered more radical than men with identical policies, and she's got to overcome sexism as well.
So the only way she's going to be a Democratic candidate for President one day is if she very visibly shifts towards the centre, or if the country moves left as a whole after 8+ years of Dem control of legislative and executive branches and she no longer looks extreme.
Worth remembering though, she's literally 30. She's only been in government for 1 year.
Looked at from a British POV, the US looks irredeemably wedded to the right.Actually, the issue is the country doesn't know it's true political position. It needs to know so there can be a REAL choice.
Right now, The GOP are known as right and the Dems are known as left. This is not quite true as the Dems are moderate right.
"Centre" is actually where Bernard sanders wanted to take the country, which might actually be centre right in its truest form. The US have a problem with political spin; the truth and lies.
Once the billionaire owners let journalists do their jobs without interference, the country would most likely find its true balance.

Does anyone on here know why saying all lives matter could cause such a negative reaction? I seemingly rather naively said it and got a load of shit for it.

Damn I was going to say thatBecause "All lives matter" is a trope used as a rejoinder. It's perceived as a separate circle, not a Venn diagram.
