The science is now clear?

Yes

The BBC and its experts are still talking bollox on face masks/coverings.

The BBC and the Guardian are resistant against changing their systems of belief.
As to SAGE: Zero common sense.

10 weeks too late. The biggest fuck up of this pandemic in the UK. 20% to 55% more cases and deaths than should have happened.

I was talking to a German friend of mine this morning and one of the main reasons he believes Germany has such a low death rate is early hospitalisation. Anyone who tested positive was put on a list and had a visit from a test nurse who measured blood oxygenation. If it was below 95% the patient was hospitalised.
Early hospitalisation gives a much higher chance of survival.
I’ve thought for a while as numbers have dropped we’ve hospitalised earlier, so hospital numbers have fallen at a slower rate than ICU / ventilator numbers.
I have no doubt with lessons learnt on quicker hospitalisation and treatment methods any second wave will have a lower death rate. Hopefully we have learnt a lot not just for this outbreak but for any future outbreaks and maybe even how we treat regular winter killers like flu and pneumonia.

I kind of get why they are doing it but its too late now in the process, why was it not done at the start?
I've backed this government a lot but the handling of some of this has been terrible.
Theresa May could have done better.
Now we have the crazy situation from next Monday that a family from spain can come to the UK, self isolate for 14 days and then stay in the lake district yet Brits cannot!
It's insane.

What is it that they can do for people early on? Do they have particular drugs or treatments that are effective before it becomes more severe?

Just medication to give the body a longer time to fight the illness off using drip infusions: Vitamin D, potassium and other solutions to prevent ion deficiencies, Heparin to stop clots. Rmsvdir and blood plasma for the last few weeks.

I didn't know they were doing the blood plasma thing actively now, that's positive.

I sent my parents some multi-vitamins plus an additional vitamin D supplement back in March now, and they're still taking them daily. Think it was on your advice actually (cheers for that). Quite encouraging that it's seen as a useful treatment.

At the briefing average hospital admissions rose for the first time in weeks to over 500. Skipped over rather quickly on the graph. Hopefully not a trend just a glitch . The UK deaths from all settings a weekday low since March. 176.

Cases 1805 from (allegedly) 220,000 tests. Surpassing 5 million tests in total (allegedly).

Hospitals have more capacity to accept residents of care homes so it’s possible this might be a factor influencing increased admissions.

ah yes just spotted that. With England having compulsory masks on the 15th England, they will become more popular and common overall.

only on public transport.

need a lot more out there, was in Tesco last night for a while and saw maybe 2 or 3 people with masks ( not including the wife and I )

It was full of could be, might do and perhaps and was yet more modelling data, so not RCT, peer reviewed evidence. The good thing about it was that it emphasised that masks without hand washing and social distancing are mostly useless so let’s hope this compulsory mask wearing isn’t being implemented so we can become sardine like on trains, tubes and buses.

Finally, if the modelling data presented by Karl Friston proves to be true, none of it will matter. His team predicted the the peak in London and the fall off and is based on 80% of the population not actually being susceptible to the virus which was why exponential growth has never been a realistic theory.

This compliments the work of Michael Levitt who modelled 60000 U.K. deaths, based on the Diamond Princess and how a Ferguson’s modelling was always flawed.

Had to wear one (provided) at the doctors, yesterday.
I asked which way up they go ?(genuine question).
" Metal piece up. Mould it to your nose and cover the your chin with the lower part."
Did this. Thanked the receptionist, like you do.
As I walked away I heard her oppo say, "Ooh, I never knew that. I've been wearing them upside down".
I shit you not.

Just a quick note for the graphs and comments that we’re having more daily deaths than Europe combined, Spain have decided to go crazy with reporting their daily numbers and the 0 deaths a day is nonsense.

That’s fucking unreal, and just shows how desperate they are to open up for the tourists.

I was only remarking earlier to a colleague that I thought it was astonishing they were getting 0 deaths.

So Spain will never have any more Covid-19 deaths.
Boris thinks this is a good idea!
