Oh for sure I don't tarr all police as racist but there has been problems there,i add all the racists intent towards individuals since they were kids into my thoughts on them protesting,casual racism is in the papers all the time and in the streets towards black and Muslims as well as others,we are a very welcoming country but to pretend that there no racism and therefore no basis to the demonstrations is wide of the mark. IMO

The 'Windrush generation' is exactly this issue with 'welcoming' Britain.

And I’ll state again, while there are racists and instances and statistics of racism or related to racism, that doesn’t mean that black people or any ethnicity are treated like dirt in this country. They most definitely are not!

I think this gets forgotten a lot, there is absolutely no place better than the UK to live if you're a minority.
Anyone born here or that has moved here is incredibly lucky and will have a better chance of a happy, free life than anywhere in the world.
It's not perfect, but nothing is.

Have you seen a change and, if so, when did you notice the change?

In 25 years I have seen massive changes-females now make up around 40%, and BAME officers were few and far between in the mid 90s when I joined. I have also witnessed several BAME officers being racially abused by members of the public. We need to see more BAME officers in higher ranks but change is happening.

The incident was in the states so why the protests here?
We are in a pandemic, this is not helping the police, hospitals etc.
Yes we have racism issues here but this is an unwanted side show to a global emergency.

protests have gone world wide, not just here, France to Australia and it’s totally justified.

There's a crisscrossing of situations that are happening in the US starting with Black people and cos my demographic has been supported by other demographics, the police have actually been revealed as antagonistic bullies with a thirst for power as well in America.

They've escalated the "them and us" situation and the "them and us" doesn't give a fuck who stands opposite them.

You're seeing EVIDENCE of it on a daily basis to Black, White, Latino, Hispanic, Asian, young, old and disabled.
