I’ve just come back from a bit of a break on here and wanted to get your perspective.

I want to be constructive and hear from someone it’s more personal to, despite the general topic being all of our problems.

What’s your view on the issues in the UK and if you became PM tomorrow what would you change?

Specifically the racism aspects I mean.

My views on the UK? Well, if anyone has noticed I have spoken on noticing the integration of BAME representatives on TV and being 'surprised' by it. I shouldn't feel surprised and that should say a lot about what the state of play in this country has been. TV is one of the last places of change as it reflects society view of current acceptance and/ or thinking. Does that make sense?

As PM, I would probably make sure that all big corporations in cities (reflective of the city diversity or even maybe compulsory) have a board that is 60/40 - 70/30 reflective of diversity members. I might even want that reflective on councils, schools etc.

It's about normalising interaction with other demographics and dissipating the natural feeling of unconscious bias when it comes to decision making.

I would have to think about where the pit falls may come and my thinking may be simplistic, but I'd have to have examples of what to implement.

The police have a right to use reasonable force against violent protestors, including a baton charge. The police in Buffalo are on film attacking peaceful protestors.

A bike was thrown at a police horse, this was resolved non violently by our police using cavalry charges instead of pepper spray and batons. That’s a testament to their restraint and professionalism, especially after seeing a colleague taking a hit like that (she smashed in to a street post/traffic light).

A non-violent cavalry charge? It didn't look non-violent during the Barnsley pie riot.

I don't care what it is you think you are demonstrating against, you don't do it during a lockdown by breaking social distancing rules. It's worse than what Cummings did yesterday given the numbers and I think he should have been sacked or resigned. How can you given your stance in Cummings defend those people yesterday during a pandemic that is killing black people at disproportionate rates?

Black Lives are supposed to matter yet we see them being put at risk and some trying to defend it?

Now there has been several requests from many in Bristol for this to be pulled down and his only claim to fame is selling slaves so though it is criminal damage I am kinda not arsed that this happened.






Edit: after twalling through several post and replies apparently it was voted for it's removal before and the council have dragged their feet on it and many Bristolians are quite happy at this being gone though maybe not the method.

As an overweight, over 50 year-old, lets hope that the protesters don't realise that this virus is the ideal vehicle for the young to have it over the old for once. After all, they've been getting kicked up the arse by the older 'we know best generation', for years. The under 50's know they don't really catch it and, if they do, they are mostly going to be over it with not much damage. I’d slightly change that as I think opportunity is better than outcome, to focus on.

If you’re interviewing a cross section of people for top jobs and are doing so fairly, you’ll eventually get the outcome that reflects society.

As you know I work in recruitment and many of our larger clients take data based on background and have it in case they discover there isn’t diversity. I do think this is mostly for PR purposes and cover their backs but they are doing it.

The company I work for is a really great example, we’re about as inclusive and fair as you can get. That’s resulted in a lesbian CEO, a black MD and a female and black Sales Director. The business hasn’t done anything but act fairly and it’s resulted in diversity.

I think rather than making it compulsory, companies need to be educated to realise that any form of discrimination can seriously hinder their chance of success/profit, as our BAME people are the best people for the job and are making us successful.

From your post and what I can see from my position, we are on the right path but still have a bit of a way to go.
