This 'expert witnesses in other countries' to me just meant whoever was involved in the case was sat at home on Zoom as they cannot travel.

The Expert Witnesses very likely to be accounting experts. Potentially also sponsorship experts. Very much doubt anything to do with Etihad aside from the value of the contract with City and how it was accounted for.

Were Uefa allowed to introduce new evidence as part of this appeal? Based on what i've read it seems crazy its got this far based on what we know. If we are appealing the decision based on the Uefa findings / punishment, does it mean they can't spring any suprises on us?

Just on the consideration that any movement by CITY in the transfer market could be tell-tale...……...

Of course it follows that the significant loss of income would severely dent the pot available - but would it totally constrain our ability to bring in top players?

If not - would there not be sense in getting in quality players anyway on 5 year deals early to ensure that, in the event that we are banned, we remain competitive.

I know that people think that the top players will not come unless it is confirmed that we will be in the CL and therefore we need to be able to give assurances - but I just wonder how true that is ?? Agents and players seem to be predominantly driven by the size of the fees and salary

Maybe players and agents have a greater set of priorities and values than I credit them with

I think the biggest obstacle currently is awaiting the decision - there will be players that we are targeting that will also want to wait on the outcome from the CAS. Players that we are looking at that could be classed as potential for the future but are still a quality addition to the first team may at this moment be more of an attainable signature

Not saying that is a definite, but just a thought of my own

Are we really going to have some pedantic debate. High confidence of the outcome is not certainty. Knowledge of the outcome is certainty. Thats the mutually exclusive distinction and I think its pretty obvious.

In any event, let me try again. In my opinion (and I have high confidence that this is true), City won't do anything until they are 100% sure of the outcome. If they make moves, therefore, they are 100% sure of the outcome.
You need a question mark at the end of your first sentence. ;-)

Based on what we know,? we know fuckall, we don't even know what the charges relate too

I'm not sure our recruitment has been so severely disrupted. There hasn't been a transfer window since UEFA's verdict and there won't be one before the CAS verdict.

Reputational damage is also short-lived in football, particularly if we get our way. The Silver Lake investment is a good example. The timing of that investment appears exceptionally risky. Given the scale of it, due diligence would have unquestionably explored the matter of our FFP investigation but it nevertheless happened.
Silver Lake will have done their homework. They may have identified some short term risk from Uefa, but nothing that is a deal breaker. They may have concluded that a one year ban was no big deal. They have a reputation for counter intuitive investment and the CFG investment may fall into that category. Since Covid, it certainly does!

Since Silver Lake made their investment the goalposts have moved a bit though. The proposed CL revamp for starters. If the 2 year ban remains in place, then given that 3 of the current 4 berths afforded the PL will have gone to the teams with the highest coefficient gained between 2021 and 2024, on a permanent basis, we won’t be qualifying for it anytime soon. Silver Lake might take that in their stride, equally they might not

Well City know what the charges were and what evidence those charges were based on, otherwise how the hell do you put an appeal together. So the question still stands.
