Kalidou Koulibaly

Liverpool are trying to get Van Dijk to sign a new five-year-deal worth £250k a week and he's 29 next week too.

I doubt many City fans would be arguing the toss if we could sign him for £120m.
We'll see, maybe we can get the price down a bit because of COVID's effect on the economy and the fact he's approaching 30. I've liked what I've seen of him(Koulibaly) anyway. Plus I keep forgetting about Garcia, although I'm not sure he will stay.

Oh I'm not really bothered about the fee, I was just wondering if there was anyone younger who could give us a Vinny like stay at the club. With the nice bonus of being able to say we got better value than Liverpool because they'd hate that.

I was just reading about De Ligt earlier though, seems he's not had a great season even at Juventus. Can't imagine how he'd have coped being thrown into to the pressures of a City team in the PL.
Don’t forget we signed Fernandinho at a similar age, it all depends on the player for longevity

There are less than two weeks between the birthday of Koulibaly and Van Dijk.

Let's not forget either, Pep was desperate to sign a 31-year-old Bonnuci 18 months ago.

Garcia is staying.

Only slight issue is his age, but other than that would be a great signing for the club. Actually think it could happen too.

I think it says a lot about the player's talent that there's pretty much no questioning on here of whether or not he'll fit in and be ready for the Premier League.

We could be linked with prime Pele and there'd be serious doubts.

We ain't getting £22m for Otamendi - he's about to enter the final year of his contract and with the market downturn, allied to his wages, he would be a fool to leave this summer.

Unless Newcastle are daft enough to pay us £50m for Stones, he will still be here next season too.

These guys are all on massive wages already.

Both Stones and Otamendi remind me of the situation we got ourselves in at the start of the takeover. Big wages on questionable players and then we've struggled to shift them.

Stones I backed at the time because his potential was huge but he's just never grown up. Otamendi is Otamendi and I fucking wish we could have shipped him off two seasons ago.

Koulibaly to fix the issues now, whilst blooding Garcia and giving him more game time and learning from 2 top quality CBs when he does play so he can hopefully give us a stint but it's not all on him too early in his development.

Yeah I'd forgotten all about him to be fair. Then there's Taylor Harwood Bellis after him. There's still time for Tosin to prove he can make the grade too(less hopeful about him though).

We honestly can’t afford any more fuck up defender purchases. Get him bought. Don’t wanna see us spend 30/40 on another fringe/back up/ prospect player. We need someone who’s gonna slot in straight away

Nail on the head.

I can’t believe so many want 21 year old Upamecano, or Ruben Diaz who is 23 or other young CBs that will anyway cost £40m+.

It’s just too big of a gamble. I can’t imagine them coming in and adapting immediately. Of course you have the odd player like Laporte who was immediately class and slotted right in but it’s rare.

Koulibaly has all the attributes to slot right in, firstly he’s comfortably top 3 in the world in his position, second he has years of possession football under Sarri, has the pace and physicality needed for the premier league, he speaks French, Italian and apparently English as well. It would be more of a surprise if he didn’t fit right in.

Get it done.
