Look at the age, expected wages and contract lengths of the players concerned.Disagree. Barry and Kolarov only left because the new manager didn’t fancy them, they hadn’t become bad players overnight and their quality warranted significant transfer fees
Dzeko was always a goal machine and was only 29 and had steered clear of serious injuries throughout his career when we sold him. £14m was derisory.
Fair point. I think that one rankled with me as they’d squeezed every last penny out of us for Lescott (worth it) and Stones (less so) - couldn’t we have asked for 2 or 3 mill ?
You need it explaining again? We’ve been absolutely twatted in the transfer market again then. Have we got a decent market price for anyone we’ve sold since the takeover ?
You are right, add in the middle of a pandemic as well,it is a good dealI might be in a minority but I think €60M is good business for a lad who doesn’t want to play for us, has run down his contract, and who has just returned from a season long injury.
And who was going to give us €40m for Dzeko?Should we start with Dzeko. 40m minimum, proven top class goal scorer with several years left in him.
Barry, anything up to 10m. Proven top class player with an international pedigree who lived the life and had a lot left to offer
Kolarov 10m, international full back, wand of a left foot, still making regular appearances for a CL chasing club now
And there was only one club in for himRegardless of talent. £55mil for someone who has 1 year of their contract left, is on the back of a season long injury and also doesn't want to be here, is a stellar bit of business.
And that says a lot about the playerAnd there was only one club in for him
No, I've made it. You've either ignored or missed the comment I was responding to - that Sanes injury has been the major factor for our downfall this year, and not laporte, Vinnie, fernandinho switched position and our left back issues. I think Mahrez has stepped into Sanes position and been superb this season. Last season Sane had 31 PL games and scored/assist 21, this season Mahrez has played in 26 PL games and scored/assist 20 so he's got better stats like for like on the last season with sane compared to the season without. Sane scored massive goals Vs dippers and rags, absolutely and was a good player for us but his importance has been exaggerated. It is your point so provide it,that is how it works
Centuries season says you are wrong on importance, sane played left, mahrez plays right and are different types of playersNo, I've made it. Go on the internet Karen, Google "player name" then "stats" then "season"Centuries season says you are wrong on importance, sane played left, mahrez plays right and are different types of players
Can you give me your source of stats please,it would have saved time and by minutes please
That summer Liverpool paid Villa £32m for Benteke a much lesser strikerAnd who was going to give us €40m for Dzeko?
A player is worth what the buying club is willing to pay
If there was only one club in for Dzeko and we really needed him off our books (FFP) then we were pretty much screwed
We haven't done too badly since he left
StalkerYou need it explaining again?
Was it stellar business acumen to let the situation deteriorate to such a point where we had to accept £50m for a player worth double thatRegardless of talent. £55mil for someone who has 1 year of their contract left, is on the back of a season long injury and also doesn't want to be here, is a stellar bit of business.
Bottom right , Nick Campbell , massive Cheadle Hulme blue.Leroy's dad being a scouser may have had something to do with his exit?
