CAS judgement: UEFA ban overturned, City exonerated (report out p603)

Probably already posted but

Sports journalism is a mess.

So many narratives being invented out of thin air, we all have access to the same information at the moment, and that’s the CAS press release - nothing more. Full report in a couple of days yet people are making up there own interpretations to suit their agenda

Oh well, loving the tears

Just to point out > We've been fined for not cooperating with the investigation. This is a clause in FFP, not in ANY other legal system around the world.

If you're accused of breaking the law, there is no requirement that you comply with the requests of those claiming you broke the law. You are allowed to mount as strong a defense as possible, with or without saying anything.

Imagine GMP booking someone for GBH and then when the person is found not guilty they fine him for not providing the information that would help them strengthen their case (if it existed).

Someone who's able to accept the decision and then talk about what it means without getting all bitter:

I don`t think he`s ever been a disgruntled media hack towards City as he knows which side his bread is buttered, with Pep at the helm.
Personally I think he gets too much shit thrown at him by some Blue Mooners.

I genuinely believe that had Leicester won yesterday, we may have seen a different verdict... possibly a year, but hey ho, now united are likely to get CL football next season by way of finishing fourth we are okay!
Your belief would be wrong

Way back when all this started following those leaked emails and UEFA’s investigation I remember the abuse I (and many other fans) got for simply reserving judgement until a proper, transparent legal process with triangulation of material reached its conclusion. Time after time we were told by rival fans or certain media figures to ‘accept the verdict’ and we were ridiculed for asking for a transparent legal process to reach its conclusion. Because of this today feels so satisfying. Apologies from those who abused us (as a group and as individuals) would be appropriate but we know we won’t get that. Instead those who told us to ‘accept the verdict’ will mostly be publishing their own negative slant and looking for excuses or they’ll be banging on about the €10m fine as if that’s significant when it only actually means we chose not to comply with the demands of a process we didn’t agree with.

I’ve seen some academics and others focusing on sports law say they are surprised by the verdict but - and this is important - those of us who’d taken the time and trouble to talk with leading officials and had listened to what City was actually saying knew that once a proper, transparent legal process was followed City would be fine. Those leaked emails were out of context and edited - UEFA fell for it because it seems they wanted it all to be true.

This is a great day for City but, in truth, it’s a day of celebration that should never have existed. UEFA should’ve worked with City to understand their position, instead Europe’s governing body failed to independently review the facts.

A plastic rag at dinner saying that we're "still dodgy and have got away with whatever it was that we did".

I said "Liam - I've always gone by the rule that if you know fuck all about a subject, it's best not to talk about it because you're likely to make yourself look a bit of a dick."

Liam - "I was only joking."
Sounds like he knows quite a lot about looking a bit of a dick.

Is that the same person on the legal side who told him Stefan's piece was laugh out loud deluded?

Did UEFA disclose all their sources for the allegations?

A very good point, and in addition to UEFA making multiple attempts to impose additional sanctions for the same supposed violations which were already sanctioned, it is in keeping with the assertion many of us have made that the entire affair would be seen as farcical and illegal in nearly any other regulatory environment.

Don’t think some of the UK ‘journalists’ have even opened the CAS summary (don’t worry, I know clicking a link takes too much of your precious time). Here’s the first line to make it simple for you;

MANCHESTER CITY FC DID NOT DISGUISE EQUITY FUNDING AS SPONSORSHIP CONTRIBUTIONS BUT DID FAIL TO COOPERATE WITH THE UEFA AUTHORITIES

They will have that on ignore, doesn't suit their narrative - bitter cnuts.

know that we have had time to have a dance and waving hands and voiced our joys what will be next by uefa ???

we all know the harder factor is now going to be on the playing field and the officials and VAR eyes all over us in the madrid game, i have this feeling we will get done over big time and the match officials will be told to give us nothing and the VAR team will be working over time to spot the littlest things that they can use to stop city

the battle was won at CAS but the war is not over ?? you think the elite will just let this happen ? uefa will be under so much pressure by them that thye can only stop us on the field of play now

+1 but also what the fuck is up with the framing of this as City fan vs. Sheffield United fan?

No one has a right to get gifted a CL place because another club has a dispute with UEFA from 2014...

Try telling that to the " hateful 8 ".
