No. Just the ones predominantly in small towns and over 60. Very hostile to abortion rights too. Seriously, you know sod all about Polish politics so quit while you are losing.

My daughter went to Uni with a Polish lass who she was friends with - Agnes went home to Warsaw when they graduated but they are still in touch. She reports really backward views on things like birth control - if your doc is anti then you have no way of getting him to prescribe it. Views on LBGTQ+ are equally behind the times. Racism is also rife.

I suppose this is because they are still quite an old fashioned predominantly Catholic society ?- a lot of our tolerance in the rest of Europe has developed in parallel with our more secular outlook. Probably like Italy or Spain a few generations back.

And we’ve got this with or without a deal!
So just one NTB will cost the country 50% more than our net EU contributions.
Awaiting the additional costs due to setting up our own regulatory bodies, the slowdown of supply chains, the costs of operating all these new customs centres etc etc.
A good FTA will not remove any of those costs. Tariffs are a bit of an inconvenience compared to the NTBs.

But it’s what we wanted apparently.

Yeah, but the Poles have elected a bit of a fascist, so it's fine.

£13bn on imports from the EU? It only adds about 5% of costs on imports (on top of the extra tariffs). Only about £4 per week for every inhabitant of the UK. Twice what being in the EU cost.

which is at least £4pw more than we were promised lol

Where's that bus? We send the EU £350m a week (a lie). Let's spend it on customs agents.

Is this what we should have been doing for years? Building lorry parks to show we have a viable walk-away option – and the political will to use it?

Perhaps we should have started building them before the referendum? Apparently Cameron did nothing to prepare for a No vote. Throwing up a lot of customs sheds would have shown we were serious about Brexit.

Fuck I missed Jackanory time again!

Yep. It’s not just the infrastructure, it’s the staffing, the training, the IT systems, getting firms up to speed for what is an estimated 400 million declarations and grafting that onto a UK/EU supply chain that has evolved to be frictionless. 10,000 trucks a day is not a cargo load from China winding its way to the UK.

The cost alone is going to be staggering and we are attempting to do something we haven’t done in 30 years onto a supply chain that isn’t built for it. All this from a Govt that can’t get a Track and Trace App to work? Do me a favour and pass the popcorn.

Agree, the £40m per site is not enough for the infrastructure, even if its just a lorry park with some porta cabins it wont be enough money - already people saying its not enough space - and it wont be ready in time. And that is just to find somewhere to park the goods in transit. The whole thing is so clearly going to fail.

Yes but it’s what we voted for, what we wanted, what we always knew would happen and a small price to pay for erm..... what was it again we get out of this?

A suitable case for treatment.

It's always a great way to start the day, fair perks you up it does.

So we are committing self-harm and you are getting kicks from people saying this self-harm is stupid.

Oh look, I am stabbing myself in the eye because I promised to do it and I'm laughing at the people who think I should be in a straitjacket.

(Then someone eise comes in to say you won't change a madman's mind by telling him he's mad.)

150,000 businesses whose only overseas trade is with the EU now having to get heads round customs red tape for the first time, and many may decide it's not worth exporting.
