Summer Transfers

Our biggest problem is not being clinical. I don't want to get on Sterling's case too much, but he had multiple clear cut chances and it happens a lot where we don't put away our opportunities. Hoping that Torres and Foden can help with that. Torres plus a CB should be the priority.

I don't see anything in Torres performance history that will suggest that he will turn into a goal machine. Much more of a creative player.
But for goals...we are going to have to look elsewhere.

One of our biggest problems is being clinical. Unfortunately that's more of a mentality issue and not a personnel issue. Whatever signings can help give this crop a kick up the backside is the best answer.

We havent even replaced Kompany, no long term replacement for Aguero in sight either. Unless the board is not willing to spend more than £65m on player then we will see downgrade.

Not necessarily that he'll turn into a goal machine, but could help out with getting goals. When we transition quickly we've been terrible lately. Sane was one who really helped in that aspect. Torres could help with that by if not scoring in transition, assisting. From what I've seen he makes good decisions where some of our players really fluff their lines.

Pep put Phil on the right wing simply because we don't have a winger that doesn't invert and we already had Mendy on the left to cross. Arsenal packed the box like a lot of teams do against us. Even though he's not a winger Phil has more pace to put in a cross than Bernardo. So having Torres could also help where he could play on the right wing and could put Phil in more centrally to help score. Of course there will always be games where we don't score because teams play deep. It happens from time to time.

Txiki needs to double check his signings.

If we sign 3 expensive players this summer and all have the same impact as Rodri and Cancelo had this season we are fucked next season.

Desperate for

Centre back
Left back
Right back
Defensive midfielder
Striker

shocking we need these players really
This should not happen under DoF model, every 2-3 years we should not be shipping out and signing about 6 players. Last summer had we made mini-overhaul made 4 signings there would be less work this summer etc. Far too complacent.

All I am saying we we get rid of Otamendi to say and spend big on a new CB who ends up being as good as Cancelo in RB for us this season we would make a huge mistake.

We got rid of Danilo + lot of money for Cancelo, and still Walker has to solve RB position 80% of the time.

Rodri vs Fernandinho I am not sure, they are very different players, Fernandinho did suit us better defensively imo which might not be balanced out by Rodri being able to pass bit better.
Fernandinho imo was helping out defence much more and earlier he had to fill in with Yaya as Yaya did not do any teamwork defending off the ball.

Pep said last summer we wanted Maguire, I think he would have been a horrible misfit with his lack of speed and if United is not around to pay record for hi we might have had paid 60m for him.

I am not 100% sure they do the best possible scouting. Many of our transfers are expensive but not good enough or do not improve City as much as they should.
Also what happened to Bernardo, fantastic first season and pretty flat second season. If his next one is similar to this season that would be 2 mediocre and one great in 3 seasons, not good enough in that case.

Jury is still out on Bernardo, Rodri, Cancelo of course.
