Arsenal FA Cup SF Post-Match Thread

It does suggest culpability on his part. He's only just bought Rodri and Cancelo. Will his new buys be better?
I never said sell rodri. I said sell gundogan. Rodri is a good buy, but against teams like Leicester, Liverpool, quick transition teams a more mobile cdm would be handy and when injured. The dream would be camavinga but I'd give douglas luiz a chance, he'd be cheaper.
Also I never criticised cancelo. I said if not going to be used or he wants to leave sell him. Personally I think he's a great rb but pep isn't playing him. Maybe he plays more next season, if so great. But if there is a problem I don't want another danny mills (not talent wise).

There is a positive out of this defeat - we get a decent rest and time for training sessions before we play Real.
Let's not forget we have spent a lot of this restart traveling around the country with little time spent on our own training ground where tactics are rehearsed.

Sorry mate, your heart is in the right place but you're full of shit. Different tournament though the CL, if we find consistency we will win it as we are the best team in the competition.

But I had a dump before I posted my thoughts

Few farts left buddy. Oh well, we will kick on from this and like you say, a lesson learned. Arsenal are an awful team, going in the right direction under our old understudy though

i also said he is not the only problem about a post earlier - where i pointed out 3-4 others as well.

try reading a bigger picture you before you go insulting people you ****
Take a look at the bugger picture lol you couldn't wait to bail in, more than once. **** lol diddums spat the dummy out.

Definitely right about the farts - we tend to get more of them as we become an old fart through the aging process

People keep asking me why we don’t have a Plan B when our Plan A is not working (receive the ball and pass the ball, sideways if possible In two movements) and I say we do have a Plan B. It’s the same as Plan A.
We have all heard the definition of stupidity ... keep on doing the same thing but expect a different outcome.
Well, isn’t that what we keep doing?. Albeit sometimes faster and sometimes slower. I am not complaining, really, because the performances and results over the past few years have been amazing, but, other teams have found an answer to our way of playing football (9 defeats in the PL this season). IMO Pep needs to have a rethink and provide players and tactics that can provide a different Plan B when our Plan A is not working. We need to stay one step ahead of the opposition and to think otherwise will see us being overtaken by more teams in the near future. I have no idea how to do that but I hope that Pep has the humility to see the need for different thinking. CTID and in Pep I trust.

The worry is our defending, especially when the other parts of the team have an off day.

We are always prone to a calamity at the back due to poor decision making and a lack of concentration, this certainly needs sorting out. Is there another VK out there?

BT’s commentary team were willing us to lose last night. But I did agree with them when they said, where is Dzeko when you need him. This is kind of player we needed to bring m off the bench. But sadly with pep it will never happen.

There will be a lot of debate about selection, that is fair enough and the midfield with Gundogan and Merlin was obviously short of legs, but I am not going to question Pep, he will know it himself today. The situation has not been helped by Bernardo being so out of form recently either. The big issue, in every defeat we suffer, is poor finishing and again last night we had good chances that were just frittered away. Against the lesser teams we create 20 chances and score 4 or 5, against better teams, and Arsenal defended well, we just don’t get away with that wastefulness.
There is not too much wrong, certainly not that a centre back, left back and striker won’t solve.

I never like our team to be in a situation where the opposition can basic weaknesses to exploit. For all the great attributes in our squad we don’t have;
a) rapid pace in central defence
b) enough strength in the air
c) the option of playing two
and and out strikers (with Kun injured)
d) sufficient running power in central midfield if KDB and / or Bernardo aren’t played centrally.

I hope Txiki and Pep can strengthen in the right places. A fast dominant central defender to play alongside Laporte is an obvious requirement. I like Garcia but I’m not sure he should be playing if he won’t sign a new contract.

Also, we’ve missed a fit Leroy Sane far more than has been discussed by the TV / radio pundits but obviously that ship has sailed.

I guess the training sessions intend to prepare the team for the CL. The players didn't look fresh enough against Bournemouth and Arsenal, despite the fact that Pep rotates more than any other manager. The only explanation I see is that they are being trained to peak physically in August.

a half decent team who can pack their defence into well marshalled unit and who have a quality speedy forward line that can expose our fragile high defensive line and you get what you get last night.
its not the first time this season its happened either, wolves and utd at home spring to mind.

really think the way forward in the champions league the the real madrid away model. we were so impressive that night, its got to be the way forward for the rest of the campaign.

the two league games left are irrelevant as far as the future is concerned apart from youth development, doyle bellis etc

It wasn't as bad as I thought, we did get one shot on target.

The Bouremouth last hour was a prelude to this performance rather than the calm before the storm.

Worrying pattern to our losses this year that many have touched upon in here. Struggling to remember a game in which we lost and were dominated by a better side. Arsenal deserve credit for a well executed plan but we have beaten ourselves yet again through such a sloppy performance.

I do wonder how this week in the media has impacted the team. Yes the CAS result was a positive, but its been so full of negativity towards the club you need hell of a mentality not let that interfere with your game.

According to the new handball law we should have had a pen in the first half. Even if it was accidental, which I personally doubt, Xhaka's hand moves clearly towards the ball whilst he's on the ground. Of course Mcpointalot said it was accidental but that's not relevant according to the new law.
