He might also know that he's not a great goal scorer and feel that once Aguero leaves, that's something we will desperately need - more than occupying 2 defenders, holding the ball up, linking play, creating space for people like Sterling to run into.

And he definitely knows, having seen Sterling over the past 3 years that your finishing ability is not set in stone when you're 22. He's got plenty of time and plenty of games to work on his finishing and bring it up to the level of the rest of his game.

No but I think he might say that to Txiki or Khaldoon. Pep is not Mourinho so I highly doubt that he will ever directly talk shit to a player. But there are ways. He can speak his mind to Txiki and then he talks to agent and gets the message across to the player in different words. I'm not saying that that has happened with Jesus, but if were to happen, that would be the way I imagine.
You think after every little error Pep goes upstairs and complains a player is shit?

I understand what you are saying but I really think you are stretching. It's not appropriate to be so disregarding after ANY little thing goes awry. Do you think after Sterling went through his run of missing sitters in 2017/18 Pep went to the board and told them how shit Sterling was?

No I don't think that. That would be an insane thing to do and a waste of time for a manager. But I don't expect any different from a forum with thousands of people. This place is meant to be a live, real-time take of a player's performance. I'm not sure if expecting every comment to be measured moments after a game has finished is a realistic expectation to have.

Doesn't score/look threatening = "...but look at everything else he does"

Scores = "Where are all the haters now?!"

I don't think even Vinny or Dave got this much of a free pass.
It’s difficult when everyone expects you to be the saviour...

In the first 30 seconds, a ball went into the Watford 6 yard box, he was nowhere to be seen and it was cleared

a day late and a dollar short

I just think he’s a very good footballer. He needs to do better in front of goal but overall I’m not too unhappy with him.

I can agree with your last sentence.

But it's not just immediately after a match.

Figured this thread would be a mess and it is. This is straightforward for me. If and when his finishing gets up to the standard of the rest of his game he'll be an absolute terror. And there's no reason in particular to think he can't do it given his age, work ethic, and how we just saw Raheem do exactly this.

I just cannot understand what kind of fan sees us win 4-0 with some great performances, but their first thought is "Quick, better run to the Jesus thread to dish out some abuse for being an inch offside in the 95th minute".

Good inference on my tone.

It was light hearted and rang a little true.

One of the difficulties online is getting across tone or expression. That's why I prefer to be boring and logical on the internet (unless it's obvious what I mean), as you can neither hear me nor see my face.

It's a shame because your post is much less demeaning now and innocent that I know what you were going for.

Just for the interest of fairness, Aguero is at 0.99 and 1.18 i.e the top of both lists. I noticed last week that for some reason the tables leave him out. Excluding penalties it's 0.87 and 1.05, so a bit better than Jesus (who's hasn't scored any penalties).

However what's clear is that Jesus is putting up exemplary numbers himself that should only improve. Aguero's overall non penalty numbers at his best are this season's actually (in terms of goals + assists number). With the exception of 13/14 where he was a bit ridiculous.

Barely gives you the canvas let alone the painting. To call Jesus finishing stats exemplary is deceitful in the extreme.
No it's calling his rate of contributing to goal totals exemplary. It's the third best in the league behind only De Bruyne and Aguero, two absolute stars. No mention of finishing whatsoever.
