Pep's contract situation | 2 year extension confirmed! (pg1817)

we dont play tika taka football, say that to pep and he would punch you, tika taka is playing the ball to keep the ball, we play the ball to get us into scoring positions.

Yes I know what tiki-taka is, and we know that Pep loves possession. Keeping the ball and moving around playing short-passes is tiki taka, but the result of it turns into goal scoring positions.

When Pep ultimately leaves, I think the club would appoint a manager with very similar philosophy. Imagine signing someone like Mourinho.

It is not tiki taka,

Yep you talk about pep leaving when we got Madrid on the horizon.
Would sir like his half empty glass refilled?

Pep hates tika taka. He says the purpose of passing is to move the opposition around, creating openings for attacks. People look at the stats and assume we play a possession game, but we play a POSITION game.

Tika taka was a term invented to be pejoritive, denoting aimless passing just to keep possession.

Not only that, but they have different philosophies. City since Pep came in means a Cruyff-inspired free flowing tiki-taka football. There's no way the club would want to deviate from this now, so I think any replacement would play a similar football to Pep. For that reason, Poch is not our man.
I started thinking maybe Juanma Lillo could ultimately replace Pep considering he was his mentor and has a similar philosophy.
This isn’t correct, Poch’s big inspiration is Bielsa , who Guardiola thinks is the best coach

The Athletic did a really good rundown of a few potential candidates a while ago, and had it broken down into metrics like quality, similarity in style, success etc

Included Nagelsmann, Pochettino, Brendan, Enrique, Tuchel, Arteta etc

Obviously the ideal is Pep extends but interesting all the same

I dont know why poch is even in the discussion,he had six years in the prem and was a bottler, brenda got lucky to get close in 2014 but fucked it up in spectacular style at the death, leicester just surrendered a massive lead to the rags, neither should be here and i hope they wont be

Don't think theres much to read into it past Poch and Rodgers are PL experienced managers who play sort of similar styles (at least in the eyes of the media desperate for something to write about during Lockdown)

If Bielsa does a good job in the Prem with Leeds (perhaps a top 10 finish) he would be a serious contender. If Arteta can turn Arsenal round he will also be in the frame. Neither of them would improve our defence but it would be entertaining.

I think Arteta burned a few bridges meeting with Arsenal without mentioning it to Pep or any of the senior execs

Pmsl you ain't gonna last long on here, first day on and you're being a cocky so n so.

Do you know who I am?

The king of the jungle?

I said that Pep is ultimately leaving which he will. Nobody can deny that this fantastic coach is eventually leaving Man City. For me, he could stay another 30 years but he won't.

he says in his book that he despises the phrase, as it implies passing for the sake of passing, whereas he wants his players to pass in order to move the opposition players into a position to create an overload
