Denise Johnson RIP

The last line in the family statement yesterday said "Denise would have liked it recorded that she was a Manchester City fan"

It is quite telling that after all the artist she played with, all the songs she contributed to, it was her love of City that she thought defined her. A true blue.

ah man...that's just choked me up.

A beautiful voice, a beautiful person by all accounts, and a blue. R.I.P. Denise.

On a sliding doors kind of side note, I'm glad Martin Moscrop didn't listen to me when I tried to talk him out of joining ACR

Bloody hell. Was recently watching a documentary on the making of Screamadelica and the producer (Andy Wetherall?) stumbled across Denise by accident and next thing she is in the band and travelling all over the place with them for gigs.
RIP
You could point us in the right direction please matey if any good?

R.I.P Denise.
Top class by Roma and our Edin.
Wonder if she read the forum?

I’m sure it was the 93:20 podcast where I heard Ahsan interviewing Denise sometime last year. It
was a great listen and she came across really well.
Was a really good interview , some interesting stories from her about life on the road with Primal Scream and her love of music and City , its on the 93-20 podcast 8/7/2019 and is well worth a listen...RIP Denise

Please line the route for Denise’s final journey tomorrow:
Starting at approx 12.15pm on Manchester Road in Whalley Range (at the junction of Stratton Road) her route will be straight into Chorlton past the former Baths, Chorlton Library, continuing by the four banks and down Barlow Moor Road by the bus station, over the tramlines at the junction of Mauldeth Road / Hardy Lane, and finally to Southern Cemetery. xx

Very sad news this. A few of my old mates have just released an album and she sang on two of the tracks. Apart from working on her own album these were probably her last recordings. I was reading a write up about the album and it mentions that when they were in the studio in Lincolnshire Denise kept getting distracted as City kept scoring. The lads are understandably really upset. Both of these write ups mention her love of City... The first article in the write up about the song Alibi. The second is a really lovely tribute written by Russ Litten the base player and writer. Denise was the same age as me and we grew up in the same area and crossed paths a lot. RIP beautiful lady.
