For 2 years Otamendi was good to great. I can't wish that away.

Laporte has had some bad games (and yes Spurs was atrocious). Otamendi has had some good games. But good to great over 2 seasons - we'll just have to agree to disagree, bud (I've cited my reasons previously, so no need to repeat)

I asked because the away goal rule is still valid, so someone asking otherwise piqued my intetest

As I explained, I read somewhere (or think I did, I am a bit fucking senile) that they were taking the away goals rule out, or at least considering it

You can imagine it we go through (hopefully) each round -
City 2 - 1 Real Madrid - "City progress against a very average Madrid side"
City 2 - 0 Juventus - "Juventus blame poor display on not having any decent competition in Italy"
City 3 - 1 Barcelona - "Barcelona need a complete rebuild after having terrible season"
City 4 - 3 PSG "Worst final on record between two state run teams"

It was discussed two or three years back but was never enacted. I do have some recollection two of the last three European exits for City being on away goals: Monaco and Spurs.

Away goals does not apply in the EFL playoffs as far as I am aware. Bizarrely it does count in the EFL Cup Semi-Final bt only after extra time.
