If this means no Chilwel then I’m in
I can only see him coming to us now. No disrespect to Zinchenko, but I see Ait-Nouri as being an immediate challenger to Mendy and not simply an able back up.
It just makes sense as a transfer because even if the best case scenario happens with Mendy, it still works. A 19 year old prospect and a 26 year old can co-exist for several years.
Has there been any development on this or are we all just kinda hoping there will be? Must admit, this has really grown on me as an idea generally!
Depends what you mean by development. We know his club has agreed for him to go and has spoken to big English clubs; think terms between clubs are agreed. We know that the lad came to Manchester for one day last week and visited the two clubs. He flew back on the same day so no other English clubs. We know that that lot have subsequently extended the contract of their own left back, which suggests he’s not going there. We know we need a left back, and we know @Ezzy linked us with him very early on, so I’d suggest it’s more probable than possible.
Sure some hack on the MEN can follow the breadcrumbs on here and write it up in the coming days; might make a couple of lines on page nine of the ten-page Sancho pull out.
I think Mahrez also speaks French, Algeria being a former French colony and all that.Agree. Should be easy for him to fit in as well. Mendy and he speak French, as does Laporte, so it should help in terms of communication on the pitch, and while Ait-Nouri is younger than Mahrez, they share similar cultural backgrounds and come from towns that are quite close to each other.
Do we actually know he came to Manchester? Or is that a rumour?

Signing Torres, then signing this lad, no more Chilwell rumours & not having to watch Zinchenko next season.
That can only be a dream.
That never means anything. Many players have left the club after being in kit launch.I’m not so sure about that. I was surprised by how prominently he featured in the adverts for the new away kit yesterday; always think that you never use players who might be leaving to advertise new kit.

Then again, the marketing people might have organised it to wind you up, NK. ;-)
They’ll have been done way back I’d have thought , think kit launches are often done with players that leace in the summer.I’m not so sure about that. Was reported in the French media last week, and I posted the link then:

Almost all of the headlines prioritise ‘that lot’ in their headlines, even in France, but that simply reflects the increasingly desperate state of the media and the need to drive click revenue.
His agent is Jorge Mendes, who has been involved in a number of deals with us in recent years. He also represents Jao Felix, I think, which might explain why that thread is heating up. But that is just guesswork. :-)

Sane last summer too despite it being obvious he wanted to go.

He's done his bit for the club now.
He can go somewhere & have a long holiday.
We’ll see. He’s still got another 4 years left on his contract. Incredible. Reckon we’ll be attending his testimonial in 2027, by which time he’ll hold the world record for most medals won for least minutes played. ;-)
