All right, I just figured it’d be easier to refer to as its his brand. Thx.
In all reality, it is. It's just three letters and avoids anyone mistaking him for the proper Ronaldo.
But the problem is that the whole acronym thing is an American trend (KB24, CP3, TB12 etc) and is often done for branding reasons. The majority of the most vocal posters on this forum are older English/ British types who aren't particularly fond of Americanism and commercialism. Not to mention, most of the time it is a bit silly and unnecessary; KB24 is more of a pain in the arse than saying/ writing Kobe and isn't used much anymore and both Chris Paul and Tom Brady have two one syllable names and aren't likely to be confused with anyone else.
Personally, I don't say CR7 because I think of it as a brand/ logo rather than the player. Plus I'm an awkward bastard and don't like him.
You can call him Ronaldo, just not like a teeney bopper. That’s not at all what I’m saying. The difference in quality when it comes to Aké vs. Stones & Otamendi, is for me at least, pretty easy to see. And yes, even before he kicked a ball for us. And yes again, C. Ronaldo is his prime is obviously a better footballer than Mahrez, regardless of what team they’re representing it’s not that hard to establish by just looking at the way they play.
OK so I can never again mention CR7 or Cristiano Ronaldo on here, because he played for United? Is it OK for me to mention Messi?
Do you guys have a list of players representing other teams that we’re not allowed to mention in this forum? It would be a good thing to have as I don’t want to step on anyones toes or break any rules.
I dunno why you’re so rattled but it’s quite obvious he was pulling you up for calling Ronaldo CR7 like a fan girl. Would you call Rooney Wazza?
Edit: Just seen the two posts above so ignore
