Kalidou Koulibaly

I think we did similar to Patrick Roberts. Wasn't his cousin on here and he was told when he signed he wouldn't be loaned out?

Yep - for the good of the player, and to give him a chance to resurrect his career, we really need to let him go.

He’s clearly got something - but not at our level, so there’s little point in keeping him tied to the club any longer.

The Pellegrini era was an absolute shit show for our Academy - no question.

But that’s what you get when you employ a stop-gap. Why should he build for someone else’s future, when he’s going to be judged on his own present. Leads to short-termism - which is the only way to rationalise the Denayer/Demichelis decision.

I don't know what planet you're on, but PSG wanted him for £25m last season, and since then he's gone and impressed in Germany, a step up from the Netherlands where he was the best LB in the country.

£7m won't cover his salary at his next club.

Just my opinion bud.

He was actually one of the players we struggled against most. He gave Vinny quite a tough time. I don't share the outrage at signing him, but it is bizarre to cancel another quality player, the club has already scouted, in order to sign Bony.

Its not that bizarre in that Pellegrini wanted an extra senior player when we had Kelechi still on our books and we had big players being lined up for the summer transfer window (along with Pep), with ffp still looming in the background.

Bizarre that he was so keen on that particular player, that he turmed down a younger player obviously better suited to our style of play.

Repeatedly bringing on Demichelis or Fernando as our third sub at 3 or 4-0 up, instead of giving a youngster some vital development minutes and to see if they could handle it, used to do my head in

In hindsight Bony shouldn't of been signed but trouble was we wanted Sterling more and decided Kelechi should be given a shot.

He wanted to work with players he knew most mangers tend do that. (Mancini and Balotelli) Demechelis wasn't a flop, he too did help contribute to our recent success. He didn't insist on Bony. He wanted a striker (a senior one) as Dzeko (who had hot and cold spells under Mancini) and Jovetic were being unreliable, and he decided to play Milner as an emergency striker due to injuries. And seeing Kelechi was on our books two younger strikers wouldn't of been too much.
He never played ian,he stuck with bony even when it was clear he was out of his depth,he fucked up,he was stubborn ,edin was never hot and cold enough not to play

It wasn't a story,he had malaria that he never recovered from,it thrwe him off,add to that he was slow and in awe of the other players
Well if he was in "awe" of the other players he was a very bad fit and a journeyman as said.

He was a terrible fit, just pointing out the malaria was not just a story
It was a fact but it became a saga, you can only blame an illness for so long, it may have destroyed his time with us, but, since making a full recovery his career has gone into sharp decline, living off his name he made at Swansea and with us.
Such a waste, because he was an exciting signing, he scored against us and the Rags just before he signed, both top class goals.

We let in two more than their brilliant defence
Only because they eased off after lockdown let's be honest. We wouldn't have beat them by 4 if they weren't on the lash a few days before. It would have been a much tighter affair if we had both been fighting for the title against each other. The 4-0 win for us meant nothing for both us and them in the grand scheme of things, they were already crowned champions before kick off.

What do teachers do who are due to go on holiday in the next week? Have to cancel now don’t they? I’m surprised they haven’t been given the instruction even if that means refunding them it the likes of Ryanair still fly

Dzeko would have the most terrible games, be lazy, loose every ball but then score. I love Dzeko looking back but let’s not forget he had just as many bad games as good ones! (Even when he scored)

Is that you, Aldo?
