Dayot Upamecano

Do you think Leipzig might start pushing them on transfers and such?

They’re probably better positioned than teams like Dortmund and Wolfsburg - who have ably demonstrated a complete lack of appetite to stand up for their own interests when Bayern come swaggering through the door, and seem quite happy to obsequiously surrender to their demands without even the most cursory acknowledgement of a fight.

But the fact is, any German-based player with agent who has any hope of dealing with Bayern again in future will be tapped up directly and boxed off in advance, so the club essentially gets presented with a fait accompli as Leipzig did with Upamecano - I’m going to Bayern next summer whether you like it or not, so either I sign an extension with a low ball release clause in it so you at least get some reimbursement for developing me, or I fuck off for free. Your call!

Not a lot Leipzig can do with those terms except step into line and accept their place in the pecking order like the rest of the League.

And they have the temerity to claim we’re ruining football!

Yeah but we keep being told its great because their season tickets only cost 50p a year and you also get free train and tram travel, overnight accommodation in the presidential suite and your choice of high level brass, limitless Colombian bugle and as many dwarf butlers as you want.
The downside being the fact it’s compulsory to wear a jeater hat and a sheepskin lined denim waistcoat covered in club patches
Lost me with the Dwarf Butlers!

only watched the game to see what the fuss was about but fuck me he was impressive, the way he brought the ball out of defence and passed it was everything pep wants, reminded me of vinny, he's some player

This kid looks like somebody has made the tailor made Pep centre back in fifa, mental if we’re not all over him of and when he moves on, angelino could be used as a sweetener.

What Bayern do with their league talents would happen anywhere else too if there wasn’t numerous other clubs able to compete and still happens to lesser extents elsewhere. Barca and Madrid do it to a lesser extent in Spain, PSG do it in France, and we have half a dozen sides that do it to others in England, look at the way liverpool decimated Southampton within a few years. VVD, Mane, Llalana, Clyne, and there’s probably ones I forgot. It’s on the clubs like Dortmund to have a backbone and stop it. With how universally disliked Leipzig are in Germany I wouldn’t be at all surprised if they refused to lie down and let Bayern take whoever they want

Definitely a quality player. Much prefer him to KK. Agree with many here that he may be BM bound. Shame, I think he would be fantastic in our team. Looked everything that KK did not in the games I watched recently.

Agreed mate - but like the Arsenal fan above, this one has ‘boxed off by bayern’ written all over it.

Another year at Leipzig, then he’ll be in to replace Boateng as part of their rebuild - as sure as day follows night!
He's not German though. The definately going to Bayern thing doesn't apply.
KDB would have gone to Bayern by your reasoning.

Sounds like there could be a Monaco moment incoming for RB, they may need to sell a big name to keep some others like Monaco did.
Monaco's backer pulled out, right? Is RB in the same situation? I thought they were well positioned in that at least.

With the figures everyone is talking about for other older CBs it makes sense to go all in for him, sounds like a deal can be done at no more than 80 mill and that’s at the high end

Unfortunately I think the links to Bayern are true. There's multiple clubs looking for central defenders, he was in a great position in the last year of his deal, so why did no-one sign him?
Why would he sign a new contract with an affordable release clause next year? Who do we know gets in and taps up players nice and early and prime them for a move? He'd be ideal at Arsenal as a long term partner for Saliba, he often plays on the left of the 3 at Leipzig even though he's left footed, but I just think adding everything up he's Bayern bound next summer to take over from Boateng.

It's fucking sickening how they get away with it.

They actually represent everything which 'ruins' football, not City.

I'd be surprised if he went to Bayern. There was supposed to be a deal for him going there this season but they bought Kouassi instead and left him high and dry.

They currently have Alaba, Sule, Lucas Hernandez & Boateng as centre back options. Kouassi might replace Boateng, Pavard has said during the coronavirus break that he wants to play CB not right back long term.

They have too many CB's as it is. More likely they buy a proper RB when Boateng goes and let Pavard play in his preferred position.

Maybe if the end up selling Alaba and Sule gets injured again, but Bayern tend to plan things quite well, and opting out of a €40m transfer in 2020 only to sign him for north of €65m next summer doesn't sound like Bayern.

It would likely depend on how he plays, I imagine.

It's the other way about. This year's buy out was €60M, next year is supposedly €42M according to Kicker. I hope he doesn't go to Bayern, and is available next summer.

Sorry i didnt mean it in that way, just more that Monaco were a surprise package and all the big names swooped in to take their guys. If Bayern want players from RB, they'll be fucking taking them because...they're Bayern, and every German club is scared of them.

Its not. That was before he renewed the contract.

Its right there in the tweet you posted.

Don't understand. This years buyout was €60M. No-one went in. So he renewed, and has a new lower buyout for next summer of €42M.

Yes - I’m well aware Upamecano is not German.

If you read my other posts on this thread, I said any agents hoping to have a cordial relationship with Bayern need to get with the programme over there.

Upamecano’s agent is a guy called Volker Struth, who happens to be head of the SportsTotal agency and Germany's most prominent soccer agent.

The player’s nationality really isn’t the relevant point here.

Must be some reason why no one is going in for him . Seems like a too good to be true deal
