He earns €60m a year in salary and €11m in image rights from the club.

He has a signing bonus of €65m paid yearly, €16m a year.

He has a loyalty bonus of €70m paid pro rata every year he's at the club for the 4 year deal - €17m

He can earn up to €25m more in bonuses including -

€2m for playing 60% of games in a season.
€2.7m for winning the league.
Up to €12m for winning the CL paid out in stages (so he'll still get a chunk for 1/4 finals)

The salary is so high that board members told Messi's father in an email they are worried about the dressing room finding out just how much he earns.

Barcelona did look like a disorganised, disinterested bunch led by Messi. bayern's defending wasn't too clever either although they totally took full advantage.

Obviously when it all got leaked they found out, but the fact Barca tried to keep it quiet is pretty incredible.

It was almost 50% of the wage bill in 17/18.

That may have been published but it is clearly made up, a bit like a Sunday Sport exclusive. His team mates don't know his wages but a dodgy paper does and the accounts don't reflect that much on one player considering what the rest are supposed to get.

Makes a good story though.

How could Barca not have cash flow issues? Their wage to turnover ratio is 76%. And that's just wages! It doesn't take a financial analyst to work out that they must be loss making each year. Now subtract out a significant portion of revenue this season. It wouldn't surprise me at all if they're in a precarious position.

Also side note: this is why they aren't paying us anything for Garcia. They probably need to sell to buy.

When the game isn't coming to you, you have to go and find the game. I'd certainly expect someone with the ability of Messi to be able to do that. He just didn't seem up for it, and neither did the rest of the team.

Would 8-2 think what his team mates feel about that.
 
Bayern looks like that are in another planet 39 goals in this UCL season avaraging 4 goals per match.. certainly they are the team to beat but oh my how awful Barça was ? they barely press or tried do to something possibly their worst match in years, If we go trough tomorrow we are going to face Europe's toughest team, if we can keep pressing high like the Madrid game for atleast 70 min and improve defensivly we may compete.Come on City !

Flick, Muller and the Bayern team definitely try to get some kind of World Cup feeling in terms of big game mentality. They are flying high on confidence. Crazy conversion rate, although Barca were incredibly helpful.

Bayern have won all of their last 28 matches across all competitions since last December except a draw vs Leipzig. Riding their momentum.
