Lyon CL QF Post-Match Thread

So what happens with VAR when a ref allows it to go because VAR will sort it and they think, we’ll it’s pretty much a foul but not a clear and obvious mistake.
he had the fuckin whistle in his mouth, but decided to see how it panned out, the ****

Pep fucked up, shit Negative selection
Garcia wants out yet plays ahead of Stones and Otamendi
Fernandinho showing his age
How the hell did Foden not get on after his performance against Madrid is beyond me

I would love to hear Peps' answer to this. Hope one of the journos asks him this.

I cant blame Pep for this loss.

We had several good chances to score throughout the game but only took one of them.

The Jesus and Sterling misses in particular were absolutely mind boggling.

To miss one, let alone two, chances of that calibre is sickening.

But lets be honest blues, Bayern would've absolutely bummed us in the next round anyway.

You can't blame Pep?
I said they fucked us over,,they showed and discussed the ref going to blow, walton said it was a foul, how much exp!a nation do you neec, they also said to pep that va r has got us again, pep declined to comment

With all respect, Pep got us tonight. Can't blame VAR. Whether or not VAR did us or not, that's 1 goal. With the right team out on the field it wouldn't have mattered. We should be slotting teams like Lyon with no problems.

Problem with the first half was no one in the box when we had the chance to put the ball in.

bayern has 4, 5 and 6 in the penalty box at any one time

If its the other way around and Laporte clips him (ahem I mean barely touched him) a foul is called and he would get a yellow.

I agree with both of you. But can't cry when one thing does go our way which is life. Not that either side is crying here

Fernandinho, gundo and rodri are not bad players individually but as a combination they are. No pace, no guile, no creativity, not great off the ball movement etc.
No wonder the defence was struggling in playing it out from the back, they had no targets to hit
As much as we love Pep he dropped one tonight.
That game and Lyons tactics were crying out for David to start as well as Mahrez.

Got my thirteen year old upstairs in tears and my 19 year old out on the piss with his angry head on. Sometimes I wish we were like my 15 year old who doesn’t give a shit.

Stand tall fellow blues. Take the shit , don’t start blaming, we’re all in this together. We all want to win but when it doesn’t go our way we group up and stay stronger as one

because he was our best option and is a professional footballer and still do the job asked. I thought he was our best player. Made a great tackle just before they scored, was just unlucky with how it fell.

laporte initially at fault for the second goal, but Garcia made it too easy by stepping upon Dembele, left the backdoor open. IF he is leaving sends out the complete wrong message to other players. Was a really poor decision.

Really, if Sterling scored, would anyone genuinely think 'masterclass'? We were playing catch up from the start with the tactics, we were awful. On the plus side, on a personal level, I can save having to take a holiday on Wedenesday only to be found to be shooting ourselves in the foot again.

Yes because that how fickle football fans are.

Everything went wrong.
1. Tactics and selection for first 60 mins - Peps choice.
2. Individuals mistakes. Sterling miss and Ederson fumbles. Players choice.
3. VAR corruption. UEFA choice. Was always likely given the chance. Points 1 and 2 above gave the chance.

Ultimately though City not good enough to win champs leAgue. Disappointed to lose to Lyon, but City are not as good as Bayern.

Ffs same I agree but var not getting decisions right,it gives them license to get away with murder

Ok let's say we go out there with our most attacking creative players and formation and then get dicked 3 times on the break.

He was trying to avoid that. It's a one off game with no second leg to bail us out.

There has to be a balance. Yes we were boring as fuck and not the team we are used to seeing but the option above could've backfired drastically.

The players not doing their jobs is what's eliminated us.
thats another way to look at it and it’s a fair point. I wish he’d have gone the other way tonight and played our creative players but if pep thought this was the best way then I back our manager every time

It doesn't matter how bad you play,va r has to stop getting it wrong,it was 1-1
Ok if that was given, what about the shove on Max Cornet by Walker. Could have been red card and penalty if the ref was against us. Fact is we lost to a team we should have won 3-0 comfortably. Anyway we wouldn't stand a chance against Bayern, not because we have an inferior tram, but because Pep is not tactically adept enough in this kind of games against the German.

It's been a long time i didn't comment.

Well, Just at the beginning of the game it was like those games you feel something fishy since the start no matter what the players will try. The same against Monaco and Spurs or even Liverpool.

Guardiola will not hide continuously behind "the club is learning must reach the high level" etc

It happen to lose a game to a lesser team, but it should be a rarity not the norm.

The team during Mancini era was poorerd compared to this one but was quiet strong defensively and had the ability to comeback from losing position.

With Pep, it is different, 1 goal behind and you can bet it is going to end with a loss at best draw

So even before the Lyon's goal you can feel that the team is not the same, just waiting for the same mistake.

Its all about details, city is not a good defensive team and Guardiola should take the blame for it, there is always a feeling some missed chances, the mistake come and then the castle crumble.

City had a chance in second or third minute of the match, if it went in, maybe it would have been a different story.

But as i mentioned there is always this feeling of something is gonna happen when city don't score early.

Need some top drawer players it should start with defence.

Walker should shut up next time, every time he came up with his comments the team lost
