Pep's contract situation | 2 year extension confirmed! (pg1817)

Dead man walking. No one will have any respect for him as a coach after he bottled a game like that. Simply no excuse.

City should fire him because he can't lead the club now. How do you listen to a coach talk tactics and take instructions from a coach who makes a completely moronic team selection and then compounds it by doing nothing for an hour? No coach should recover from that.

I hope our management have the bottle and respect for the players and fans to fire him. You simply do not make mistakes like that at this level in football and carry on as normal. He might be able to rebuild his career at barcelona but I cannot see the likes of KDB listening to him

Fuck me when are these responses ever going to go out of fashion?

We get it, Manchester City at one time played in League One and our Derby was once Macclesfield Town, how many times are we going to trot out this bollocks as some sort of reality check to an opinion on a team that has had 1 billion pounds spent on it in the last decade?

This is 2020, what happened in the 1990s is irrelevant.

I agree. We didn’t have any glory hunting and embarrassingly entitled fans back then.

No it's actually from people that call themselves City fans.
so we can’t question king pep now?!! he’s an arrogant **** who’s lost us derby games cos he thinks he’s too clever and derby games don’t mean anything to us fans!!! and taking lyon easy thinking ahead to wednesday and munich.. he’s fucked up once again but it’s king pep so let’s just be grateful cos we’re little city and lucky to have king pep and his barca boys so let’s carry on eh?! same again next season in champions league.....

All well and good, but that’s 4 years in a row he’s made a bollocks of this competition. We wasted an hour tonight with an absolute clusterfuck of a team selection and tactics. Even Pep only has a finite number of lives.....

Yep. Huge fan of the 'well we were crap in the 90's so you have no right to get mad at repeated champions league humiliations, were you even at Mansfield bro' line of argument that always drops on nights like this.

Defend is team selection then. This is the CL quarter final, not the league Cup. You must play your strongest side and play every game to win with a team that gives you the best chance. Playing Fernandinho, Gundog and Rodri together was the height of arrogance. i can only think that he thought we could beat Lyon with that and then have rested players for Bayern.

You can do what you like. Everyone is allowed to be wrong sometimes.

So because we played Lincoln City in 1998, no City fan can ever criticise a team or player performance again?

Small mentality thinking as usual from some city fans.

People calling for Pep’s head when only last season he brought us every domestic trophy winnable, which no other team in the history of English football has ever done, is the the epitome of small time and incredibly fickle thinking. Jeez.

Then you think wrong. And given that he has explained his team selection, that's pretty poor from you.

Go and grow up.

I've supported City all my life, through bad times and the good. But never have I known any city coach make such an idiotic decision as pep made tonight.

You simply don't carry on as if nothing happened. This changes everything because I think the players will have lost respect for the coach.

Stuart Pearce, that name stills gives me shudders.
A man who put a teddy bear on the bench and put David James up front.
Any blue who had a season ticket while that clown was in charge deserves a medal.
Add to that every time he was talking about us he said "this football club" instead of us or City, got right on my nipple ends.
A dead hedgehog that's been run over by a van would have had more tactical nouse than that tool.

:D Got to laugh soz

If he is staying but leaving 2021 summer and tells it to the board, what kind of pressure will be on him to deliver?
He leaves if he wins trophies and also leaves if he finishes 5th in PL with another CL fuck up.

Its a bit of a crazy situation imo. He would not have to deliver to save his job unlike any other manager.

he can explain his team selection all he likes but he made a mistake in the biggest of games. Not for the first time either. Credibility is hard won. And his has gone.

He wont recover from this, nor should he. And you should understand that.

No, not getting past a CL 1/4 final when he was hired to win it is why people will question him staying. That team selection tonight was a two fingered salute to the fans IMO.
