Pep's contract situation | 2 year extension confirmed! (pg1817)

I've supported City all my life, through bad times and the good. But never have I known any city coach make such an idiotic decision as pep made tonight.

You simply don't carry on as if nothing happened. This changes everything because I think the players will have lost respect for the coach.

Kind of agree with this, think we will know pretty quickly into the new season whether the players still think he is the best man for the job or not. Got a feeling Pep won't be with us past November.

We must extend Pep's contract, give him 5 years with Messi salary please. And please calm down. I am willing to lose to Lyon 10 times rather than losing Pep.

You can do what you like. Everyone is allowed to be wrong sometimes.
sometimes???! he’s a flat track bully with money, and an arrogant **** cos he’s won trophies at the best barcelona team ever and bayern domestically but the whole world has seen king pep to being a below average coach at top top level, and tonight is final straw after that lineup especially after getting turned over by united 3 times in season while messing about with team and lineup..

If Sterling takes his chance, there's no conversation to be had.
yes there still is because in a game of this importance Pep plays a completely absurd starting line up that not one City fan would have chosen.

The coaches job is to prepare the team and give them the best possible chance to beat their opponent.

There is no one who can defend Pep tonight.

I will.

People calling for Pep’s head when only last season he brought us every domestic trophy winnable, which no other team in the history of English football has ever done, is the the epitome of small time and incredibly fickle thinking. Jeez.

And the season before that he took a team to 100 points.

His plan didn't work tonight but anyone who thinks the team couldn't have fucked up had he done something different has not been paying attention.

Whatever was or was not wrong with Pep's team selection, at 1-1 his team were in the ascendancy and should have gone on to win but they got fucked by VAR, Raz fucked up and Eddie compounded it.

People say it's all on Pep but that is a frankly unbalanced view. City have had a lot of misfortune in their UCL eliminations under Pep and he had some with Bayern so it's probably little wonder he tries too hard with the UCL rather than just trusting to the usual.

We are in the middle of a rebuild, we need some better players in key positions. The manager can only do so much and he is not the one out there on the pitch.

City had four big chances tonight and missed them all - that was not all on Pep.

I'll be surprised if we extend his contract after tonight and some of our other champions league showings since he's been here.
We are talked about as being one of the best teams in world football, but he sets us up in some games like we're the underdogs.
Set us up to win not to contain.
The biggest problem though is not when he gets his starting lineup wrong, it's when he's too stubborn to change it when it's clearly not working cos he's picked the wrong starting lineup.
There were many factors we could call on tonight, the foul on Laporte, the miss by Sterling and Jesus, but we were already fighting a uphill battle with them tactics.
He's really pissed me off tonight.

Sadly I think there is some truth in this. I think the body language from KDB and his comments after the game that "We were not offensive enough" says a lot. KDB chooses his words carefully. I think a lot of the players looked confused tonight just as they did in the FA Cup Semi. I wouldn't say they have lost respect for Pep but a few doubts may have crept in.

I've supported City all my life and seen some absolute shite! Guardiola coming to City has been unbelievable! Absolutely wonderful football, with plenty of trophies to go with it. Very disappointed with tonight. Very frustrated with Pep for not going for it but given the season we have had I never felt truly confident we'd win the CL. I'd love Pep to sign for another 3 years and rebuild this team.

Go on then.

In a game against a side that was always going to get men behind the ball and hit on the counter why play Fernandinho, Gundogan and Rodri? He played a pedestrian midfield in the FA Cup semi-final and I kind of accepted it as the CL was close and it was D.Silva's last appearance at Wembley.

he's repeatedly trying to play the maerick genius who sees things others don't see, when the club is on the cusp of the Champions League. That simply was not even close to our best starting line-up.

Classic Pep overthinking tinkering bullshit. Fire him - if only for not making all the subs available in the last 5 minutes showed he doesn't have the 1999 and 2012 spirit. Good domestic manager, shocking in Europe.

No it’s not. He’s here to win the Champions League. He’s failed 4 times. The club has sacked two previous managers for failing to win in Europe despite wining domestic trophy after domestic trophy.

This is nothing to do with the mentality of city fans. If you are happy enough to pick up a few league cups because we were in League One once then that’s your prerogative but some including myself want to see some real progress in it after Pep has had 4 chances now, more than the previous managers, more than Mourinho gets, more than any other manager gets at the super elite clubs who we wish to be side by side with.

Your small time thinking is the reason why he constantly fucks up year after year because he doesn’t respect the name of Manchester City because we played Grimsby Town in a league game once.

Manchester City in 2020 are a billion dollar valued club with an unlimited transfer limited within rules and as such should be treated as one and if Pep is not fulfilling his contracted objectives then he should go. There is no room for sentiment at the Elite level otherwise Joe Royle would be in his 22nd season with us!
