Pep's contract situation | 2 year extension confirmed! (pg1817)

If he does decide to go after tonight, or even if the players begin to turn against him who will the club look at replacing him with?

sometimes???! he’s a flat track bully with money, and an arrogant **** cos he’s won trophies at the best barcelona team ever and bayern domestically but the whole world has seen king pep to being a below average coach at top top level, and tonight is final straw after that lineup especially after getting turned over by united 3 times in season while messing about with team and lineup..

Yeah the guy who created the best club side (probably) ever is a below average coach at top level.

Tonight is desperately disappointing, but i think we're letting our disappointment cloud our judgement somewhat.

Pep is still a great manager. Almost any other club in the world would welcome him.
We'd look stupid and ungrateful if we sacked him.

He's not perfect, of course. Completely over-thought things tonight. But his overall record with City is still pretty incredible.

Go on then.

In a game against a side that was always going to get men behind the ball and hit on the counter why play Fernandinho, Gundogan and Rodri? He played a pedestrian midfield in the FA Cup semi-final and I kind of accepted it as the CL was close and it was D.Silva's last appearance at Wembley.

he's repeatedly trying to play the maerick genius who sees things others don't see, when the club is on the cusp of the Champions League. That simply was not even close to our best starting line-up.

You telling me that team wasn't good enough? Are you saying we didn't create enough chances?

It was on the players tonight with a special mention for the officials.

The rats in the media will be putting pressure on Pep and the club over the next few days , he needs to nip it in the bud and sign for another 3 or 4 years , players like Torres and Ake must have asked the question about the managers longevity before signing for our club as will Koubailly or any other future signings
Pep's not going anywhere , he is a determined fucker who will ram the words of his critics down their throats

And the season before that he took a team to 100 points.

His plan didn't work tonight but anyone who thinks the team couldn't have fucked up had he done something different has not been paying attention.

Whatever was or was not wrong with Pep's team selection, at 1-1 his team were in the ascendancy and should have gone on to win but they got fucked by VAR, Raz fucked up and Eddie compounded it.

People say it's all on Pep but that is a frankly unbalanced view. City have had a lot of misfortune in their UCL eliminations under Pep and he had some with Bayern so it's probably little wonder he tries too hard with the UCL rather than just trusting to the usual.

We are in the middle of a rebuild, we need some better players in key positions. The manager can only do so much and he is not the one out there on the pitch.

City had four big chances tonight and missed them all - that was not all on Pep.

sorry not picking on you mate, but you say 4 big chances city missed
Yeah the guy who created the best club side (probably) ever is a below average coach at top level.

ermm well yeah he is cos he was brought here to win the champions league and has failed quite comfortably by HIS mistakes and arrogance!!

Peps got some thinking to do in the next week or so, he has to adapt his game for next season, he needs a new string to his bow in terms of a plan B, he needs to ditch the inverted wingers that’s condensing the pitch and making us considerably easier to defend against nowadays and he needs an answer to the basic ball over the top of the high line that catches us out time and time again. All of that whilst also requiring a fairly significant mini rebuild. I can’t see all that coming into fruition instantly particularly with such a short summer break so If he’s committing to doing that he needs to extend his contract to make sure he sees it through and makes us champions again otherwise we will have a final year of Pep in charge where we see a similar season to this and that will tarnish his legacy. Give him a new 3 year contract go out and back him heavily in the market, get the players we need to see Peps 2.0 City side, he’s never done it anywhere, I’d love for him to do it here and see what he comes up with.

Unless we can get somebody in his ear that he listens to I think this champions league disappointment happens to us every year that peps here and it’s something we will have to get used to. Personally, if we get back to something resembling the league winning football of 2 years ago and go back to utilising pace, getting in behind, widening the pitch and play with a quick tempo with and without the ball I can take champions league failure every single year for that kind of football and domestic dominance. The league is the main thing and there’s nobody as good as pep out there to bring us more titles.

If he doesn't extend do we just wait in uncertainty and then he leaves after next season? How motivated would he and the players be if they know it's his last season?

No it’s not. He’s here to win the Champions League. He’s failed 4 times. The club has sacked two previous managers for failing to win in Europe despite wining domestic trophy after domestic trophy.

This is nothing to do with the mentality of city fans. If you are happy enough to pick up a few league cups because we were in League One once then that’s your prerogative but some including myself want to see some real progress in it after Pep has had 4 chances now, more than the previous managers, more than Mourinho gets, more than any other manager gets at the super elite clubs who we wish to be side by side with.

Your small time thinking is the reason why he constantly fucks up year after year because he doesn’t respect the name of Manchester City because we played Grimsby Town in a league game once.

Manchester City in 2020 are a billion dollar valued club with an unlimited transfer limited within rules and as such should be treated as one and if Pep is not fulfilling his contracted objectives then he should go. There is no room for sentiment at the Elite level otherwise Joe Royle would be in his 22nd season with us!

You’re entitled to your opinion and so am I. On this occasion they are not the same but in no way whatsoever am I thinking small time. Yes the Champions League eludes Pep at City but that should not negate everything he has achieved - which happens to be more than any other Manchester City manager has ever done. So sure, sack him.

I'd be tapping up Nagelsmann for next summer, we need a new core to this side, built around Phil and a fresh mentality, and a manager who keeps it simple and builds the side around his 3 best players because that's where football has moved to. We need to adapt or we'll keep failing.

I've supported City all my life and seen some absolute shite! Guardiola coming to City has been unbelievable! Absolutely wonderful football, with plenty of trophies to go with it. Very disappointed with tonight. Very frustrated with Pep for not going for it but given the season we have had I never felt truly confident we'd win the CL. I'd love Pep to sign for another 3 years and rebuild this team.
I've loved it too but tonight can not be undone. When he came, he was the superstar coach. He was like Mourinho Mk 1 but the aura will vanish now. Let the club, fans and players down. It's not the first time he's made daft decisions in key games but this was the biggest of the lot.
