we have just bought a winger to replace Sane this forum is full of ungrateful moaning people who want new toys Thats more depressing than the result last night

If you’re happy with annual QF exits from the CL then we should definitely persist with the current team. When a team stagnates you press the refresh button. That is how we got two consecutive PL titles, by upgrading the team and not staying with players like Sagna, Clichy and etc.

We are far to wasteful in front of goal sterling and Jesus work hard and always put a shift in but when push comes to shove when something is needed they fall short big players score that chance sterling missed we need killer in front of goal ... get Kane

Yeah but Torres hasn’t even played yet

This is one if the frustrating things- we have likely already fixed the problems of last night.

Pep said we couldn't play 433 because of the slow CBs. OK well if that was his reasoning we have already bought Aké who would have played if we needed pace.

People think we need another winger - we already have one.

We are supposedly already far down the line with 3 more.

Last night wont change anything in the transfer market because the club already knew the flaws that were exposed and has moved to fix them already.

Judging by Torres’ stats he won’t fix our main issue which is converting our chances. The most pressing need is getting someone who can reliably finish the chances that we create. No other team in the world pisses away as many as we do

Stats are pretty meaningless when you're 20 and in a bad side. The kid will get 5x the opportunities created for him to finish, and he'll be put in situations with the ball where he can create for others 5x more often.

I would like to see us go for Havertz/Dybala/Felix but don't know if we will in the end.

Absolutely need to improve our striking department, need someone who can actually score clinically. We ain't gonna cut it in the big games with forwards who score 1 in 5.
With Aguero constantly in the treatment table Sterling is the best we have atm and we look up to him to deliver the goals. We saw last night how that ends up with. He would be a fantastic player when he isn't demanded to be the main source of goals.

And Torres won't be the answer to the clinical forward problem.

fair enough. That type of player.

we are turning into Arsenal a bit after they lost Viera. They lost any fight they had and replaced with loads of very similar players

we’ve lost Komapny .Zaba and others
Was going to post something similar,we are starting to make signings that have potential but on the whole seem like signings (so far of course that could change ) that will not see us challenge for titles or cups more like consolidating around the top 4,maybe I’m wrong but just get the feeling it’s looking a bit arsenal to me ..

If this was his reasoning last night, he went for the weirdest solution imaginable. You don’t mitigate the pace risk, by adding a 35 year old into the centre and pushing your only defender with any pace further up the field. If he wanted 3 at the back because he was worried about our lack of pace in the middle, Walker should have been one of those 3.

He might but there’s nothing that suggests he will bang in 30+ a season and solve our biggest issue.

I am sure that he will create plenty of chances but our problem isn’t chance creation, it’s finishing.

The players need an invigorating figure to walk through the door. Someone who makes the world of football stand up and take notice. Been way too long since we made such a signing. Ake, Torres and a lot of the other names mentioned won't cut it this window, the players seem jaded and need the impetus a star signing would give them.

Completely agreed. A clinical striker should be our top priority.

I don't get Pep's reasoning, we can't play with 2 slow CB's so lets play with 3 slow CB's and hold a high defensive line, while reducing our attacking options.

Apologies don't want to derail the thread.

I think the idea is that with 2 CBs the channels between them and fullbacks are big and more central, and if you have 3, the gaps are not just smaller, but wider as well so playeds are pushed further from goal and there's more bodies back by the time they collect it.
