Eric Garcia to Barcelona

He reminds me of Nastasic, no personality on the pitch which means you hardly notice he’s playing most of the time

get rid

Him & Laporte playing a pathetic offside when they could see Walker was not in line, Garcia being the guy who is nearest, to help Walker position for the next phase, 2nd goal, suddenly rushing forward to miss a challenge, leave a fucking big hole & opening up the whole defence, resulting in the goal.

A proper defender wouldn't even have to break sweat to sort both. He's wrong half the time, but someone mentioned 'awareness' so it gets repeated he has it.

Imagine if you are the guys playing next to him ? Where should you be ? Will he stop & put his hand up, charge in, or drop off, then charge in ?

Laporte will be 4th choice if he plays 10 more games with him.

He's a kid, who knows nothing about the job.

thanks for that. Entirely sums up my opinion of him from last night. But fuck me, what was he even doing in the starting 11.

Even if he's brilliant, he shouldn't be playing, as he has no experience & doesn't want to play for City.

I just cannot understand, why anyone rates this kid so highly, he has potential, yes, but he is going to have to learn as a CB as he develops to accomodate his: lack of pace, his inabilty to win headers, his lack of strength, his average distribution but most of all his rank bad decision making.
He has potential but should never be infront of seasoned internationals in such important games, and to top that off he doesn't want to stay at the club. Poor decision Pep, poor very poor

What a message to send to the rest of the squad hey Pep? Let's play a CB who doesn't want to remain here ahead of established players. What message does that send out? I wouldn't have even put him on the bench. Get what we can and put it towards the fella from Napoli.
Maybe it’s a sign to stones and ottamendi
Decide to leave and you’ll get a game too
For me l three can fuck off
Pep has fuck all defensive options
It’s either his tactics or wank recruiting
Or both!

Why was he even considered, he wants to leave.

Because he and pep are professionals and grownups, with a job tl do for this club.

Not arguing it was the right decision, but while he is our player, that decision is there for the making

It sends out the message that Pep thinks he's the better defender and the other two better start looking for a new club.

I'd have started Otamendi personally. I agree though, it's the end of their careers at City unless there's a dramatic change of heart from Pep. A 19 year old kid who wants to go to Barca getting picked though? Something is seriously, seriously wrong behind the scenes.

It was a shocker.

I disagree, Otamendi against a counter attacking side with that lethargic midfield in front of him would've been awful

It's worth saying that in 16/17 Pep made every effort not to use Zabaleta. Hart and Mangala were sent away at the first opportunity. It was known that he wasn't a big fan of Clichy or Sagna either, particularly with the latters injury problems. And only rated Kolarov as a CB. He played Navas and Fernandinho as fullbacks if he could get away with it. He also abstained from using Touré for the first half of the season, and barely used Fernando in the second half of it. The season after Touré barely featured. The season after Delph was effectively banished after he got a red card. As this season has gone on, he's used Silva, Otamendi, and Stones less and less. Bernardo has found himself marginalised. Mahrez has been slowly pushed aside too as the season closed. Zinchenko has effectively disappeared.

It's probably not a coincidence either that he only used 2 subs against Lyon, even if it was wrong to do so.

I'd wager with Pep that if he doesn't see value in you at the time of asking, you don't play unless you have to. He's VERY ruthless like that. Probably too much so. There are some players he loves (as players, not people to be clear), and they always play: Sterling, De Bruyne, Walker, Ederson, Rodri, Laporte. And then there are the players he likes, the ones he'll happily play but maybe doesn't think the world of them, at least right now (due to being young, due to being old, due to not quite being the right level of quality but showing all the other good signs etc): Fernandinho, Silva, Aguero, Jesus, Gundogan, Mendy, Foden, Garcia, Mahrez, Bravo. And then there's everyone else; I'm playing you because I have to or you have a specific skillset that could come in handy. The fact I feel Bernardo is here is a concern. It's worth adding here that until Cancelo improved his attitude after the lockdown period he wasn't being used much either.

We're not seeing it publicly but I'd wager there are a lot of players Pep is absolutely livid with at the moment. Some he wants nothing to do with and some that he thinks seriously need to get their acts together. I think the club know that and that's why we're making big moves in the summer market. But that's why we're seeing certain players uninvolved even though they maybe ought to be.

Nah because he is Spanish.
