I haven’t seen it but cannot comment but I remember Andrew Neil grilling an independent remain campaign group for editing videos, getting prominent leave voters to sound like they were saying certain things to implicate Brexit.

It may possibly be that but I don’t know as I’ve not seen it.

Do you have a link?

My opinion now is that Brexit will just dissolve into the mass economic mess that is Covid-19 anyway.

Both were avoidable or solvable ....... but Conservatives

The economic fall out, certainly to the extent in which it has manifest, is certainly the Tories fault, but not for the reasons you think (I’m guessing).

Enforcing a nationwide lockdown on the healthy, by threat of penalisation, will go down as one of the worst decisions in the history of our country, the full extent of which we have not yet felt.

The safeguarding of our liberties has shown to be nonexistent, we are now just pawns of whichever power hungry mob gets in next and the economic impacts are so severe we’ll be paying them off for the rest of my working life.

Indeed.

Had we only given everyone free broadband and nationalised the railways during the last 8 months we would have been sitting pretty right now.

Socialists.......cloud fucking cuckoo land.

But the Conservatives have already taken back into public ownership part of the rail network and proposed free broadband for school kids

Conservatives..... no policies of their own

Making sure those without suitable broadband speed and the necessary number of devices so a family can work from home at the same time as educating thier children would have been brilliant for this country over this period of lockdown and the next phase - poor broadband will serve to grow the gap between the haves and have-nots

Maybe I am in cloud-cuckoo-land but I'd like all kids in this country to have an equal start but seen as though they don't, I'm sending the little one to an independent schoold in September(this is not some sort of brag, merley for full disclosure)

We always have been. They just give us a few quid no and again to keep us happy. Bread and circuses - between giving us a few quid they have us arguing amongst ourselves about single mothers, immigrants, black people, benefits cheats etc.

They know what they are doing and, for the most part, we lap it up. I accept this might sound bit tin-hat brigade but I think there is some truth in it

I like a good tin hat opinion but I disagree with you on this one, which is fine.

I think mostly the government has far less a grip than we think, whoever is in and is just desperate to stay there so everyone engages in some level of populism to do so, even New Labour did this, as they are terrified of the public.

What this spineless git Johnson has now done though is open the door to any would-be dictator to enact total authoritarianism at the drop of a hat in the future. He’s accidentally uncovered that there are no safe guards to liberty in this country and now anyone who wants absolute power, can enforce it.

Sounds extreme I know and people will think it won’t happen to Britain but then again, people in metropolitan, cultural and morally sound Dresden wouldn’t have imagined they would have been taken over by an organisation like the National Socialists prior to the 30’s.

I seriously think people underestimate how much this has changed UK politics and the amount of people who support it scares the living shit out of me.

I'm always flabbergasted that people don't think free broadband is a good idea. Basic connection for everyone and then those that want/need it can pay for better.
The number of old people i've helped to save money, get medical help, claim benefit or not be ripped off tells me that internet access is not a luxury but a requirement in todays world.

We are in danger of derailing a thread here so I'll just add this quickly - The measures taken by Johnson, albeit too late, were necessary and had pubic buy-in as seen by businesses and individulas changing thier behavior prior to the offical 'lockdown' which I would argue didn't go far enough - lock down very hard, very early, jump on the app everyone else was/is using and also jump on the PPE and equipment order. Basically do things quicker as this was in the post from late january

The measures now of lockdown 5 million people, however, are likely to be ineffective and errode pubic trust due to the poor handling. As a result I cannot see any other leader, without execption circumstances and precedence i.e after the rest of the world has done it, gettign away with anything close.

In short, I think your fears are misplaced

Well we’ll agree to disagree, locking down harder would have been worse.

But yeah, let’s not derail the thread and leave it there.

Carole Codswollop time.

5 years of her twitter time invested into prosecuting and finding guilty someone the Met police and electoral commision have said there is no evidence against.

She’s a total laughing stock and has been outed as a liar.

When I had Twitter and Brexit ruled everything I followed her, as she was a prominent remainer, she’s now been shown to be a fabricator of the truth and a coward in doing so.

The outraged local MP issued a video of her next to an empty dinghy condemning the migrants actions - WTF kind of reaction does she think her fascist rants will stir up the daft mare?
