And?
Would KDB not walk into your team?
And with all due respect the standard of La Liga is poor.
Real and Barca are very ordinary by their standards , yet still hammer most of the teams around them with ease.
And?
The deal could cost us 200-300 million for 2 seasons, would he make that bigger difference in that short time?
That's the question Pep and the execs will have to answer.
Does that show how many times he just jogs about or how often opposing sides play through his position because he's missing ?
I understand that, but if we have that sort of money available for special one off opportunities, I would like to see it spent on players who will be around longer than a couple of seasons, Mbappe would be the one for me, young, outstanding talent, and who's value is only going to increase. They’d try to do it if they think it would work financially with extra sponsors, world exposure, shirt sales etc. It would be a unique deal wouldn’t it? So it would not make any difference to our plans to sign another centre back etc. Some people who are against this seem to think the 300m that Messi might cost could otherwise be spent elsewhere but that won’t be the case.
We just might get to watch the greatest player ever linking up with KDB,Aguero and Foden etc.
Messi money is Messi money only, it isn't available for any other player. That is why ,as Tolmie explained buying Messi is outside any other transfer business.I understand that, but if we have that sort of money available for special one off opportunities, I would like to see it spent on players who will be around longer than a couple of seasons, Mbappe would be the one for me, young, outstanding talent, and who's value is only going to increase.
Would I like to see Messi here? You would be an idiot not to. But I don't think signing him now is good and like I said before, he would only be joining us because he is pissed with the President of the club he loves.
LOL so the "Messi money" could not become "Mbappe money" if the latter was available?Messi money is Messi money only, it isn't available for any other player. That is why ,as Tolmie explained buying Messi is outside any other transfer business.
No.LOL so the "Messi money" could not become "Mbappe money" if the latter was available?
OK , so if Messi stays, or we decide the deal is not right, what happens to the "Messi" money?
If Messi was stationed in Mahrez's position wide right our opponents would be way more worried to the extent they'd have an extra man on him. We'd have an overload somewhere else on the pitch.Does that show how many times he just jogs about or how often opposing sides play through his position because he's missing ?
No one is saying he's not a fantastic player but you have to build a side around him to do his work for him and i'm not sure doing that for a 33 year old is a great thing for City to do.
UEFA fine us for trying to buy Messi and they keep the money.OK , so if Messi stays, or we decide the deal is not right, what happens to the "Messi" money?

The sources that would have provided it, keep it. The same as last time we found people to finance it when we looked at it, according to @Prestwich_Blue .OK , so if Messi stays, or we decide the deal is not right, what happens to the "Messi" money?
Nothing - the money only exists because it is Messi. Signing him would open up multiple sponsorship deals that could (in part, at least) pay for the transfer. It wouldn't be available to the same extent for other players. As ESPN have noted, City appear to be crunching the numbers to see if they stack up. I wouldn't be surprised if they were informally sounding out sponsorship partners to see what they were prepared to pay to have Messi's face plastered on their advertising.
It isn't there anymore, other people will put up the money if it happens. It's like splashing out on a nice bottle of wine at a restaurant because you're splitting the bill.
Besides, the Qataris would never sell us Mbappe and to even tempt them would be twice/three times as much, and he still missed chances in the CL final and lost so it's hardly a certainty either.
The income he would generate would pay his fee and wages without issue.
Still cant see it happening though.
Juventus have also decided to pay Ronaldo with sponsors, jerseys, etc ... By doing 2 + 2 it is clear that nothing can pay for this investment. Juventus has 300 million in debts, this year they are trying to sell, they have inflated the budget, and all this to pay Ronaldo, who for the moment has not given him anything. Messi is the same! A game for the rich, a game that can ruin a team for 10 years. Given what's happening at Juventus, I wouldn't want him in your place.Nothing - the money only exists because it is Messi.
