If we have to lose one of Jesus or BSilva to fund Messi I'd sooner keep Jesus. Love Silva for his ability to wind up Liverpool but Jesus had the better season for me. I'd buy Mahrez a plane ticket myself
LOL, go back with Pep, Tikix and Ferran? It would have to be Mahrez for me too, in fairness, in the way he attacks he is similar to Messi, and would suit the way they set up.
Is it possible Messi could leave on loan? Given his gripe isn't with Barcelona, rather it's current leadership. Then go back next year when his pals are in charge.
We were never actually linked with Kane. That was BM speculation about who a big target might be
Who said anything about Pep, Txiki and Ferran?LOL, go back with Pep, Tikix and Ferran?
That would be taking the p$$
Be great if they got Roy Keane in on the coaching staff wouldn’t it?!
More likely to be Aguero than Jesus, I’d have thought, given they rarely gel at international level and Jesus would be far more athletic within the team dynamic. Aguero might be a slightly easier sell to the Barca fans as well.I will wager we will lose one of Bernardo or Jesus (in addition to Garcia and Angelino) if Messi says he wants to leave with immediate effect.
There is a PR selling job to be done to the Barca membership and there has to be a justification based on finances and moving the club forward.
It wouldn't be a problem City picking up the 12 months he would still be owed in wages, which might also be a big consideration for Barcelona's finance department.
Not long to find out now.
Maybe it would re light Aguero & give him the option of another 12 months if he plays wellIf Pep stars the season badly, decent chance he will lose it & leave.
Messi has never reallly linked up with Aguero. Aguero in fact has sonetimes looked better when Messi doesn't play. It shouldn't need a coach. And Pep does not really coach the forwards how to link up anyhow, he coaches how to get them into that area.
Unlikely the team can have two players in totally free roles, so KDB most likely has to change the way he plays, to accomodate Messi. He might not like it.
If we could give them both free roles, then possible Pep will balance it, by using both Gundogan & Rodri.
All of these things might be no problem, but it's not such a simple thing, to assume City can just continue as planned, as a team, with Messi.
I imagine Messi would play more or less as a striker.
Even more reason to sign more 'legs' for the midfield, if he is coming, imo.
What? The last 10 pages of this thread have been like Chinese Whispers at a home for the Deaf!
You think Pep would stop a deal to acquire Lionel Messi if it means giving up Gabriel Jesus? There's no way Pep would allow Jesus to be part of the deal for Messi.
I 2nd your last line, the walk from piccadily train station down to market Street is like walking past a refugee camp, it fills me with the horrors.
So Messi is going to come on loan for 12 months, you gotta be kidding me!Who said anything about Pep, Txiki and Ferran?
Are you being a naughty boy @tolmie's hairdoo ? Testing the new upgrade ;)
That Wimpy was like a war zone, you had some balls to go in there! When I turned 13, my folks allowed me for the first time to get the 77 bus down Lloyd Street South into Town and eat at the Wimpy in Piccadilly Gardens (Where Burger King is now)
My lad turns 13 in a couple of weeks and I wouldn't let him within eight miles of our city-centre without me or his mum holding his hand tightly enough.
Over-protective? - maybe
Blind, I am certainly not!
I've told both my kids to work hard as fuck at school, chase their dreams, go see the world on their terms. I will kick both their arses if they end up in Manchester.
Let's hope they start shit & Ole gets the bulletFuck - hope Haaland doesnt end up at utd
There's no way Pep would allow Jesus to be part of the deal for Messi.
I think Pep would choose Jesus + Messi, over Aguero + Messi. You think Pep would stop a deal to acquire Lionel Messi if it means giving up Gabriel Jesus?
I think this is why he will stay put.Whenever I get excited about this I just wonder if a 33 year old who doesnt speak English well as far as i know, would uproot his wife and 3 young kids for 3 years to come to Cheshire.
I think they might be the biggest hurdle.
