They still have Neymar on their books
ney just said he stays as long as possible, and i just read another spanish news sayin now psg and united are in best positions...whatever, it s surely a giant troll by spanish papers

Mostly at sea Serving on Submarines mate, However on more important stuff: if it’s true Messi has a £600 million buy out and if it’s true Messi's wage package at Barcelona according to Football Leaks: 60.395.769 euro basic yearly wages (£988.000 a week), £9.100.000 per year on image rights, £13.000.000 a year on possible bonuses plus signing on & loyalty fee (£120.000.000 over 5 years).
That would/should Make even our owners eyes water

Level 16 LSA?

If pep is here for 3/5 more years we are in a good position to sign messi. If he’s here 1 or 2 more seasons then messi goes somewhere else or stays at Barca.

sadly I see pep going in 1 year back to Barca & messi staying at Barcelona. I see this more of a plot to clean up Barca board than Messi really going.
I don’t see the correlation, personally.

Messi probably has 2-3 seasons at the top. If Pep is at City for another 2 seasons, then Messi won't have any hesitations.

I did something similar in a thread elsewhere earlier, but more that Messi was a smokescreen to get harry out of the news.
Alas, beaten to the gag again.

The Spanish rags have already started in on it so it’s only a matter of time before it is a rag cluster here.

I’m on the fence with this... Yes Messi at city would create a higher status for us and probably elevate us to that ‘Elite’ status. But at what cost? Kev should be captain this coming season but do you think Messi would not request the captaincy in his delivery? The potential unrest it could cause worries me. There’s no doubt, even at 33, he’d still be a threat and no doubt he’d bring in a tonne of cash through various means, but I have a niggling doubt.
i also think we are being used but on the flip side the club are happy to be in this instance. Being linked to Messi isn’t a bad bit of PR nor is it doing us any harm when negotiating other signings. We deny it all the way but let the rumours grow regardless. Very clever in my opinion. But if we decide it is doable and pull it off, then it’s a win win. I just think the money involved would be justifiable when others will want pay rises.

I get what you're saying but when Pep managed Messi he was a model professional and a great teammate - it helps winning most of the time to be fair - Regarding Kev, I believe Kev wants to win everything and finish his own career as a multiple CL winner so he would know signing Messi would help achieve that so would be happy.

Say we do pull this off I can see it only being a 2 year deal and I could see Pep also extending an extra year. Either way it would be worth the risk because even at 33 his presence alone would create space and opportunities for others to shine - he also looks to have natural fitness and plays most games. Very exciting times, just imagine how signing him could impact the likes of Torres and Foden.

Foden is possibly bashing one out as I type this.

rumour is Pep has agreed to a 2 year extension so 3 season from this point. Messi is after a 3 year deal according to some reports so.... I’ve no doubt Messi signing would bring positives and not all negatives but I do question which outweighs the other? It’s a huge risk but can understand why any club would be daft not to sign him if they can. Just see us baulking at the money involved and PSG waltzing in and just paying it. Although I think any other club would need to shift players to accommodate the money it’d take, we don't have that issue.

Plenty of time then, but not sure if I can deal with a month and a half’s speculation about this, my head is spinning already!

I think if this is genuinely viable then it’d be wrapped up very quickly. No buying club would want time to lapse giving others the chance to raise the funds and gazump the deal.
