No. Forcing people to pay for something that is of little interest to them is the issue here. Having a law forcing people to pay for a few channels is ludicrous. Imagine if C4 or C5 tried to do similar Nothing? Would you be willing to pay for that too?

And refering to the shite on the BBC as 'quality TV is laughable. Nothing worse than BBC News these days for biased journalism and shite programs I have no interest in.

yet the top 3 watched TV channels last quarter of 2019 were BBC1,2 AND 4 - Thats not people being forced to watch that is people choosing to pay and watch.

For a similar price to watch Netflix produces a fraction of hours of home made TV hours to what just the BBC news dept does. Just the News. You are comparing apples with paperclips there.

You commercialise the BBC then the existing advertising post is spread further and more thinly so none of them win but bear in mind YOUR OWN view that the BBC news is biased has no basis in any proof and is merely because they don't report what you want them to.

Reducing the funding to the BBC see's the end of so much output that you no doubt enjoy now and will miss when its gone - there will be no getting that back. Freeview would struggle as the BBC contributes, Britbox, local radio would be decimated...how much damage to output do you want just so you get FOX News GB?

yep - everyone who voted Tory at the last GE did so solely because of the lyrics that most of them don't know for tow songs that feature on a TV show they don't watch - the 80 seat majority is proof.

I can't believe I'm responding to something as patently ridiculous as this, but if you want to use the last GE as a bellwether as to weather we keep the singing of land of hope and glory or not (still makes me laugh), more people voted Lab, Lib, SNP than Tory, Brexit and BNP (I'm assuming these are the parties you're suggesting indicate the national mood).

It would be ridiculous to suggest the reason there isn't a big fuck off choir and loads of people singing a shit song in the royal albert hall is to do with the transmission of coronavirus, wouldn't it.

The disharmony is coming from the BBC, who have pandered to some Finnish political activist's (read who she is and her background), view that this is the ideal time for her to 'Make a change.' It is not for them to support the political aims of a foreigner who has arbitrarily decided what we should be hearing, because the content of the songs contain lyrics she thinks should be amended to suit her view. This is why there's an outcry, blame them.

I don't see it so much as an outcry, it's just an ever growing and increasingly vocal majority telling those who feel they have the right to decide what is now right and wrong to go fuck themselves the busy cunts.

You're right it would be ridiculous, as they apparently have no problem, with their limited number of vocalists, singing other stuff, but not Hope and Glory.
The song you think is shit is rather telling, I think that Commie dirge 'Red Flag' is utter dated shit, but I don't want it scrapped/lyrics altered, it's always the left that now wants what it doesn't like expunged or 'Changed.' When they then get a kickback when they do theses stunts, they then wail about it not being important, what's the problem etc; the problem isn't us mate.

They never existed, anymore than there is a movement wanting to ban songs at the proms. These are fictitious fights. A random dude will write something about a song being inappropriate, other random dudes will weigh in saying, yes, they are still appropriate, the Mail will start a campaign to ‘protect our heritage‘ and voila, we have a nice little culture war to get you all excited.

And the songs will get played and everyone, every year, says ‘Happy fucking Christmas’.

It's nothing to do with left or right. The point is the vast majority of people don't give a shit either way, and this is just manufactured outrage from people who think going for a pint with Mark Francois would be a brilliant night out.
