Whilst he’s arguably the best player ever, I find it hard to believe we’d be willing to pay over £100m for a 33 year old.
Would you pay 80m for Koulibaly or 100 for Messi ?

Depends where you live !2 jumbo cod and 2 large chips? You"ll get change from a £20 note.
90m for Maguire?Would you pay 80m for Koulibaly or 100 for Messi ?
Verified twitter accounts reporting City are in a good position to sign Messi:
- Rodrigo Faez and Moillorens (ESPN correspondence on Barcelona)
Guardiola and Messi spoke on the phone last week to discuss the possibility of Messi making a move to Man City this summer
Man City are weighing up offering Lionel Messi a long-term contract that would see him move to partner club NYCFC after three years in the Premier League
Marcelo Belcher (Barca journalist who first broke the Neymar transfer)
Lionel Messi wants to play for City
Martin Bajkowski (Manchester evening news)
Messi to City, then? It has arguably never been more likely, but there are enough obstacles still to suggest it is still a long way from looking likely
Guillem Balague (Journalist)
Yes, City could be the destination. But it is too early to say it will certainly be. @lequipe say his morning PSG is out of the equation and the club suggests that to be the case. But it is more a "wait and see" than a definitive no. Inter is exactly the same. And there are more

Man City have been working for more than a week to try to pull off deal to sign Messi and are seen as frontrunners:
Manchester City have been working for more than a week to try to pull off the biggest transfer coup that English football has ever seen by signing Lionel Messi, according to sources, but they face major financial hurdles
Doesn’t mean he‘s had a definitive legal opinion though - and I suspect none Is forthcoming. Declaring he wants out isn’t predicated on legalities. It reflects his feelings and ramps up the pressure on Barcelona FC.I would have thought Messi would have had it looked into before declaring he wanted out
Well they have their eyes on Wijnaldum, so that'd be 145m of that straight into Liverpool's pockets...barca journo says 150m euros. hopefully they use a chunk of that for garcia and angelino
It's all a bit Joe Royle isn't it?Barcelona have CONFIRMED Messi's contract does have a 'leave for free' clause, but Barcelona state the clause expired at the end of May.
Messi believes the end of May date is automatically extended due to the contract 'adjustments' made due to Covid.
It's really that simple.
No way. Have you seen Messi’s barnet? Are there any youtube videos of him anywhere? Hoping he's not another Samaras.
Messi will get the 10 shirt.Aguero has the no 10 shirt
What if messi wants 10 too
How will that work
I think we need to be careful here. Messi would feel better and the Barca fans less upset with him if we don’t take the p!ss. Clearly the board are trying to turf him out with some sort of compensation. The rules of Barca presidency state that if you leave the club with a financial loss you have to cover it out of your own pocket. Elections are due soon so they have to ensure they doesn’t happen.Already down from 220m. down from 700m. Next stop, 50m and we can talk.
Dont need to worry about FFP, we've got CAS in our pocket (allegedly).Agreed how on earth can we be pay €150m then his wages and stay within FFP?
